King Taksin the Great Shrine | Wat Hong | Bangkok

King Taksin the Great Shrine at Wat Hong Rattanaram According to the legend that has been passed down, the King Taksin Shrine at Wat Hong Rattanaram is the first King Taksin Shrine in Thailand, built as a place of respect and worship. According to the legend, “After King Taksin was executed at Fort Wichaiprasit, a Chinese monk led the royal funeral procession through Wat Hong, with another monk holding a tray of blood. At the same time, he turned to look at the chapel of Wat Hong and saw King Taksin standing with his arms crossed, headless. This shocked him so much that he dropped the tray of blood from his hand. Then, the soil containing King Taksin’s blood was used to mold a statue of him and set up a shrine for King Taksin at that location, creating a wooden shrine.” That location is the Bodhi tree beside the current King Taksin the Great Shrine. As time passed, the wooden shrine deteriorated. Wat Hong Rattanaram, the Royal Thai Navy, Bangkok, and the faithful helped build a new shrine in the same area as the original shrine. It is a Thai-style cement building with a two-tiered gable roof and open spaces on all four sides. Inside the shrine is a life-size statue of King Taksin the Great. A Buddhist chanting ceremony was held to open the shrine in 1984. According to the abbot who looks after the shrine, “Of the 9 or 5 fruits that can be offered to the King, sapodilla and jujube are prohibited.” The shrine of King Taksin the Great is located at the back of the temple next to the canal that connects to the Chao Phraya River. In the past, when people still traveled by boat, this would be considered the front of the temple. At this point, there is a small wooden shrine as a place to worship and light incense and candles before taking flowers and garlands to pay homage at the large shrine nearby. People who come to worship here usually ask for blessings for victory and escaping from those with ill intent. #TravelingAroundThailand #KingTaksinTheGreatShrine #KingThonburiShrine #WatHongRattanaramRatchaworawihan #Buddhism #BeautifulTemplesAroundThailand #WorshipandRequestBlessings #WorshipKingTaksinTheGreat #PrayForBlessings #Worship9Temples #Bangkok #VisitBangkok #Places to visit near Bangkok #Trips near Bangkok #Natural therapy #Waiting for the day to depart #Must not miss for those who love spirituality #Must not miss for those who love merit #Worship sacred objects #Go to the temple to make merit #Convenient travel #Thais travel in Thailand #Where to go #History and culture #Open up interesting experiences #Tourist attractions #Thonburi side #Chao Phraya River #Old temples #Make merit, worship Buddha, ask for blessings
