Suthiwararam Temple

Wat Suthiwararam is an ancient temple over 250 years old. It was originally called "Wat Kae" and is located next to the Chao Phraya River in lower Bangkok. Later, in the early Rattanakosin period, it was also called "Wat Lao" because this area was the location of the Lao community who immigrated to Bangkok. It is located on Charoen Krung Road, Yan Nawa Subdistrict, Sathon District, Bangkok, on an area of ​​5 rai, 3 ngan, and 13 wa. It was granted the royal charter of the boundary of the temple in 1881 during the reign of King Chulalongkorn. It is believed to have been built during the Thonburi period. It is considered the temple of the Na Songkhla family. Today, the temple has changed a lot from its former abandonment. Today, Wat Suthiwararam has renovated the ordination hall to make it beautiful. Behind the ordination hall is a large Buddha statue called "Phra Phuttha Siri Sutthisawat", which is often called "Luang Pho Phra Yai", which on the side of Luang Pho Phra Yai, there are also statues of Thao Wessuwan Maharach and Thao Kuvera Maharach, the giants who reside on the left and right sides of Luang Pho Phra Yai. The area around the chapel, which has graceful, clean white stucco work, is a sculpture of the Eightfold Path, "the path to the path" and "the ten perfections of the land", mixed with images of imaginary Himmapan animals. The stucco work is very graceful. Each work that the artist has conveyed will also contain knowledge for friends to think about. The marble chapel has two floors in total. On the lower floor, there is a white marble Buddha statue, with a red and gold background that is a bas-relief of angels and disciples of the Lord Buddha. The second floor of the chapel The original Buddha image that was invited from Wat Phraya Krai since the reign of King Rama V is enshrined. What makes the Buddha image stand out is the mural painting of the mystery of Dhamma, "Buddha's Eye, the Eye of Awakening", which is a contemporary artwork by Songdet Thipthong, a Chiang Rai artist. In addition, around the second floor of the chapel, there are frames of pictures that various artists have painted mystery of Dhamma on the walls.
