Jim Thompson was a Westerner who came to Thailand during World War II and loved the country so much that he settled down there. He developed the Thai silk industry. Thailand is famous for silk, and the Jim Thompson brand is the most famous. If you're lucky, you can see silk being pulled out of silkworms, which is not a common sight, so it was really amazing! Jim Thompson's house is a wooden building built in the Thai wooden style, and both the house and the collection are designated as national relics and managed. Photography is not allowed inside the house, and individual viewing is not allowed, so you must go with a guide. The collection, furniture, etc. are so well maintained that it seems like people could live there now. It is said that Jim Thompson went on vacation while living in this house, went missing, and never returned... However, the silk industry he developed still remains with us.
