🌅 Wat Arun – The symbol of the dawn on the Chao Phraya River

🏯 Brief history Wat Arun has been around since the Ayutthaya period. It was originally called “Wat Bang Makok”. During the reign of King Taksin the Great, he gave it a new name, “Wat Chaeng”. In the reign of King Rama II, it was renovated and a large prang was built, which was completed in the reign of King Rama III. Its current full name is “Wat Arun Ratchawararam Ratchaworamahawihan”.  🏰 Highlights • The prang of Wat Arun is a mixture of Thai and Khmer architecture, approximately 81.85 meters high, decorated with Chinese crockery and shells, combined into flower and leaf patterns. • Phra Phuttha Thammasorn Ratcha Lokthat Dilok is enshrined in the ordination hall and is the most important principal Buddha image of the temple. • There are other important Buddha images, such as Phra Phuttha Champhunuch And Phra Phutthanarimit   🕰 Opening hours • Open daily from 08.00-18.00 hrs. • Admission fee for foreigners 50 baht   🚤 How to get there • Chao Phraya Express Boat, get off at Wat Arun Pier • Private cars have limited parking, so allow time to find a parking spot #Get a discount without relying on luck
