Wat Mangkon Kamalawat, a hidden healing space in Bangkok's Chinatown

#BangkokTravel While walking through Chinatown during my trip to Bangkok, I happened to visit Mangkon Kamalawat Temple. The gorgeous red traditional Chinese buildings caught my eye, and the smell of incense and quiet prayer atmosphere made my mind calm. Location: Central Bangkok Chinatown (3-minute walk from MRT Wat Mangkon Station) 423 ถ. เจริญกรุง Pom Prap, Pom Prap Sattru Phai, Bangkok 10100 Thailand • Operating hours: 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM (subject to change) • Admission: Free • Characteristics: The largest Chinese Buddhist temple in Thailand, a traditional attraction where many locals gather during Chinese New Year and Mid-Autumn Festival Inside, there were several Buddhist statues, altars, and people praying In particular, the red lanterns and golden decorations create a very pious and gorgeous atmosphere. There was a separate space for burning incense, so I was able to pray quietly. If you exit from MRT Wat Mangkon Station Exit 1 and walk a little toward Chinatown, you will see it right away. • The incense is strong, so if you are sensitive to the smell of incense, it would be a good idea to bring a mask. • It is better to wear modest clothes rather than revealing clothes! Please follow basic manners as it is the etiquette inside the temple. You can pray freely. It was good to burn incense and organize my mind for a moment. I thought Bangkok only had fancy palaces and shopping malls, but Mangkon Kamalawat felt like a hidden space where I could really spend my own quiet time. It felt like the prayers of locals were more important than those of tourists, so I would like to recommend it to those who were busy or tired during their trip.
