Bangkok Art Biennale 2024

#InsomniaInExhibition Bangkok Art Biennale 2024 - Bangkok Art Biennale or BAB, an international contemporary art festival that is held every 2 years, this year's theme is "Nurture Gaia", conveying different meanings of nature, nurturing, femininity, and contemplating ecology, politics, or supernatural powers to reflect on the current situation, stimulate thought, and find new ways to deal with future issues in terms of society and the environment. #Insomnia invites everyone to see the works in the exhibition area at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC) from 10 artists from Thailand and abroad. 1. Adel Abdessemed (Adel Abdessemed) - The work Telle mère tel fils conveys the connection between mother and child through the transformation of an airplane to look like a snake, conveying the return of technology to nature. Reflecting the complexities between family relationships and the political context of society 2. Kanya Charoensuphakul - Whitewash for Mother Earth shows the pain of Mother Earth being invaded by human actions. It is conveyed through the use of color, water and sand to convey the healing of nature and the atmosphere. The white color is used to symbolize hope and recovery. 3. Isaac Chong Wai - Die Mütter (The Mothers) is a two-screen video installation that conveys human fragility through movement and mournful songs. It conveys grief, deep relationships and the impact of universal trauma. 4. Michael Elmgreen and Ingar Dragset - Still Life creates an interaction between the viewer and the artwork through the hand of a child reaching out to hold an injured bird. Although it seems alive, it lacks power, creating a sense of powerlessness. 5. Prasong Luemuang - Saṃsāra (Sansaravat) conveys the essence of the cycle of rebirth in a profound black and white color, conveying the impermanence of life and offering a path to liberation from the cycle of existence. Through training and practice for peace and liberation 6. Pejvak Collective - Shokouk: A Cosmicomedy in Four Acts is a hybrid documentary film that explores history, space travel, and cosmic imagination, connecting fact and fiction to provoke questions about human perceptions of time and space. 7. Lisa Reihana - GROUNDLOOP reflects the journey across the Pacific Ocean by indigenous people in the past, merging with the imagination of a future where the ocean will become a path connecting people, demonstrating cultural and historical connections and passing on local wisdom into the future. 8. Abraham Poincheval - Walk on Clouds conveys the artist's experience hanging from a hot air balloon over the landscape of Gabon, exploring the relationship between humans and nature through the stillness of the air, seemingly weightless, to emphasize the coexistence with nature in a dimension beyond normal perception. 9. Bounpaul Phothyzan - Story from Plateau reflects the problem of unexploded ordnance (UXO) in rural Laos, using materials left over from war to tell the stories of those affected. This work highlights the long-lasting and devastating effects of war on people's lives. Including the hardships that still affect the present What stands out for the works exhibited at QSNCC, in addition to the large works and packed with VDO Art, these works are also full of social, political, natural, cultural and spiritual issues, conveying the relationship of humans to the environment and history in different contexts, connecting to the encounter and coexistence with things that go beyond the boundaries of normal life, creating participation and stimulating thoughts from various perspectives. ----- 📍Venue: Queen Sirikit National Convention Center 🗓Exhibition today - February 25, 2025 ⏰️Open for viewing Tuesday - Sunday from 11:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. (Closed on Mondays) 💵Free admission 🚘Parking available 🚍You can get there by MRT Queen Sirikit National Convention Center ----- #BangkokArtBiennale #BAB2024 #รักษากายยา #NurtureGaia #QSNCC #InsommiaScene #ExhibitionReview #100WaysToTravel #GetDiscountsWithoutLuck
