Secret tearoom in Ari area, good tea, delicious snacks

#Fly to Hong Kong “5.21 Tea Voyage” – A secret tearoom in Ari area, this shop is hidden inside the Bangkok Voyage Boutique Hostel. What makes this place feel more special than other cafes is the passion for tea leaves that can be felt in every detail, starting from the shop’s name, which is the number 5.21, which comes from the first day the shop opened, which was chosen to coincide with International Tea Day (May 21). There are a variety of tea sets and tea brewing equipment to choose from to suit each type of tea. The owner’s conversation with tea lovers, homemade pastries that are freshly made by the shop every day to order with tea… to the peaceful and shady atmosphere and the shop’s decoration with beautiful and exquisite collectibles, making you feel the charming craft that makes you want to sit and sip tea for a long time. Another highlight here is the selection of quality tea leaves from around the world, just like the word “Tea Voyage” in the shop’s name. There are both green teas from Japan and China, ripe and raw Pu-erh teas, oolong teas from Taiwan, red and black teas from northern Thailand, herbal teas and teas from various flowers. To the famous French teas such as Mariage Frères, which were selected, including Marco Polo, which many people love. ✈️ [Tea Flights] This is the signature menu here. The set consists of 3 types of tea, served in small sizes, suitable for those who want to try many types of tea at once. You can choose the tea leaves that the shop recommends by fermentation level from fresh tea leaves to black tea, or you can mix & match as you like. You can also choose to drink it hot or cold. This time, we chose these 3 tea leaves. 🌿 Green tea - It is Longjing tea from China, also known as Dragon Well tea, which is fresh tea that has not been fermented. The young, slender tea leaves are a beautiful light green color. Served in a clear glass, showing the light color of the tea. The aroma is soft and gentle. The taste is slightly sweet, pure, delicate, and has no astringent taste at all. With this tea, we don't want to eat any snacks because the taste of the tea is already delicate and perfect. But if you like snacks with tea, we recommend ordering daifuku. 🌿 Oolong tea – This is Jinxuan oolong tea from Taiwan. Since oolong tea is a semi-fermented tea with a fragrant smell, the shop serves it with a tea sniffing glass and a tea sipping glass. The shop offers 2 types of oolong tea: lightly roasted Baozhong tea with a sweet floral aroma, and darkly roasted Tieguanyin tea with a smoky aroma. We ordered green tea daifuku to eat with tea. The dough was soft and chewy, and the red bean filling was smooth and delicate. The shop makes these snacks fresh every day, just as delicious as if you were eating them in Japan. 🌿 Black tea – This is Silk Black Tea from Chiang Mai, which received the Gourmet Medal Award from AVPA, the organizer of the Teas of the World International Competition 2020. This tea has a light hint of honey and fruit, and astringent flavor that makes it perfect for pairing with Western-style snacks. We ordered Financier with honey flavor. The shop’s recipe baked it perfectly, with a crispy outer skin and a sweet honey aroma. The inside of the cake is soft and not tough, with a light buttery aroma that goes well with this tea. For the Tea Flights menu, if you walk in, it will be served normally. However, if you want to experience the Tea Tasting, where the owner will brew tea for you to taste one cup at a time using the correct tea brewing technique (taking about 45 minutes per round), you should make an appointment in advance. For other teas that I have ordered to try, there are Japanese teas like Gyokuro and Pu-erh tea, which are also of good quality. This is a shop that I believe both tea lovers and cafe lovers will definitely fall in love with. 📌 Location: Bangkok Voyage Boutique Hostel, 10/27 Soi Phahonyothin 5 Samsen Nai Road, Phaya Thai, Bangkok 10400 👉 The reason I wanted to visit Hong Kong was because I wanted to travel around and taste some delicious teas in Hong Kong.
