Wat Benchamabophit Dusitwanaram

“Wat Benchamabophit Dusit Wanaram” which means “Temple of King Rama V” is also known to tourists around the world as “The Marble Temple” because the ordination hall and gallery are decorated with marble from Italy. It is a temple with exquisite beauty with ancient Thai architecture. The ordination hall is a four-sided pavilion with light pink and gray granite paving inside. Inside the ordination hall, there is Phra Buddha Chinnarat, a meditating Buddha in the Mara-Vijaya posture from the Sukhothai period, which is a replica of the real one in Phitsanulok Province. It is enshrined on the Ratana Throne. On the western porch, there is a large standing Buddha statue covered in gold. It is a Buddha statue cast from the remaining gold scraps from casting the Phra Buddha Chinnarat replica, called Luang Pho Thammachak.
