Luang Pho To, Bang Phli Yai Nai Temple

Luang Pho To, Wat Bang Phli Yai Nai, is a Sukhothai-era Buddha image in the Mara-Vijaya (startling Mara) posture. The entire Buddha image is made of bronze, with a lap width of 3 cubits and 1 span, with open eyes. It is enshrined in the ordination hall of Wat Bang Phli Yai Nai, Tambon Bang Phli Yai, Amphoe Bang Phli, Samut Prakan Province. It is a Buddha image that is said to be sacred and highly revered by the people of Bang Phli and Buddhists in general. Legend has it that about 200 years ago, three Buddha images floated down from the north along the Chao Phraya River. The three Buddha images performed miracles by floating down the river and sometimes performed miraculous powers by appearing for people to see, causing widespread awareness of their miracles and sacredness. Later, one Buddha image floated into the Tha Chin River and was enshrined at Wat Rai Khing, Nakhon Pathom Province. At about the same time, another Buddha image floated into the mouth of the Bang Pakong River. Until it was enshrined at Wat Sothon Wararam in Chachoengsao Province. The other one floated along the Chao Phraya River before floating into Khlong Samrong. The people who saw it all tried to invite the Buddha image to float at the mouth of Khlong Samrong, but they were not successful. A wise person commented that it must be because of his miraculous powers because even if many people were used, they still could not invite him to the shore. Therefore, they should risk the water by attaching a raft to his image and using a boat to pull him to float along Khlong Samrong. They also prayed that if he wanted to go somewhere, they would show a miracle so that the floating raft would stop at that place. When all the people agreed, they made a raft and attached a raft to his image and used boats to help row the raft and float it along the canal. When the raft floated to the front of Wat Phlap Phla Chai Chan Songkhram or Wat Bang Phli Yai Nai, the raft that had attached the image stopped. Even though they tried their best to paddle and row the raft, it refused to budge. The people who came with the boat and the people of Bang Phli unanimously invited him to come up from the water. It was amazing that only a few people were able to invite him up from the water so easily. This made the people praise his miracles very much. 📍https://maps.app.goo.gl/aazYbwa387ExGw1q6 #Mr.Tourist #CentralRegion #CentralRegion #CentralRegion
