Wat Chalo, Suphannahong Boat Church

"Suphannahong Boat Church", Wat Chalo, Nonthaburi Province There is a church on a large Suphannahong boat floating in the middle of the temple, along the Bangkok Noi Canal. It is located in Tambon Wat Chalo, Amphoe Bang Kruai, Nonthaburi Province. It is an ancient temple since the late Ayutthaya period. It is estimated to have been built around the year 2275 or during the reign of King Borommakot. There is a story that when King Borommakot traveled by boat through the Bang Kruai Canal, he saw that this area would be suitable for building a temple to serve as a spiritual refuge for the villagers. However, since this area is a rapid bend in the river, in the past, a junk boat sank and people drowned. In addition, the construction was difficult and had many obstacles. Even when the construction was completed, lightning struck the middle of the church. Later, King Borommakot had a dream that an old Chinese man came to ask him to release the spirits who died from the boat capsizing. The Chinese man wanted him to build a church in the shape of a junk boat. After that, when the church was completed, nothing happened again.
