Due to religious rules, people entering the temple must dress neatly as much as possible. It is safest to wear long skirts and pants. The main points of viewing the Uluwatu Temple are divided into two sides. One side is mainly to view the buildings outside the temple, and the other side is the performance of Balinese traditional dance Kacha Fire Dance. There are two shows every day, one starting at about 6 o'clock at sunset and the other starting at 7 o'clock. Because the show is quite popular, especially the one at sunset, it is recommended that those who want to watch the show buy tickets early. We arrived at the temple that afternoon to buy the tickets, but the 6 o'clock show was sold out, so we had to buy the 7 o'clock show. The phone I’m using to post this was saved from a monkey 😭 That day I wasn’t paying attention and was walking with my phone in my hand. There was no sound behind me, and in an instant the phone was taken away by a monkey and ran up the tree at super fast speed... The monkey took off my phone case very skillfully and threw it on the fence, and then began to "study" how to disassemble my phone. At the same time, the locals nearby (we strongly suspected that they were the ones who trained the monkeys to steal tourists’ things to make money) also noticed it quickly. They chased after the monkey and threw the bananas in their hands (the bananas were still wrapped in plastic bags) to the monkey. While the monkey was attracted to pick up the bananas, it threw my phone to the ground with one hand. While the monkey was figuring out how to take out the bananas, the locals quickly picked it up for us and looked at us with pitiful eyes and asked us for money. We definitely had to give this money 🤣 We finally gave him 50,000 Indonesian rupiah before the local was willing to leave. From then on, every time we saw monkeys, we would stay away from them and keep our things tightly. After a few hours, we saw that many tourists had their glasses snatched away by monkeys. The result of having their glasses snatched away by monkeys was that the lenses were twisted off and bitten into pieces (it was also worth seeing the biting power of monkeys' teeth).
