World UNESCO: Tegallalang Terraces

#wheretogo #ubud #tegallalang #riceterraces Today we visit the Tegallalang Rice Terrace, one of the most popular tourist attractions in Ubud, Bali, and for good reason. This UNESCO World Heritage Site started in the 8th century is a breathtakingly beautiful example of traditional Balinese rice farming. The terraces cascade down the hillsides in a series of emerald green steps, creating a truly awe-inspiring sight. Only a short 30 minutes drive out of Ubud, Bali, this has become a must see attraction for visitors to this part of the world. It is also possible, as I did, to hike 8-9km to the Rice Terraces from Ubud Town, sipping balinese coffee along the way. Upon reaching the rice terraces, one could take a walk through the terraces, hire a local guide to explore the history and culture of the area, visit a local temple, or enjoy a drink at one of the many restaurants and cafes with views of the rice paddies.
