Artistic churches with a variety of different rich and uninhibited architectural styles

Andalusia Tour ~ Cadiz (Region) This cathedral stands among the pure and simple whitewashed houses, a rich and uninhibited combination of Mudéjar, Gothic, paneled, Renaissance and Baroque styles. The current appearance of the Cathedral of Santa María de Asuncion in Arcos de la Frontera is the result of construction works carried out in the 15th and 16th centuries. In addition to the Mudéjar details, the style is a transition from Late Gothic to the plate style of the Renaissance. It is an open church with three naves of equal height and a magnificent sanctuary, designed by the architect Diego de Riaño in collaboration with Juan Gil de Hontañón y Alonso Rodríguez, and later by Martín de Gaínza. Its interior is entirely Late Gothic, but Renaissance elements are also present, especially on the ornate silver-leaf painted main facade.
