If you plan to watch the sunrise, buy a ticket for the Zhushan Line at Alishan Railway Station one day in advance. The staff will tell you the details and departure time. To make it easier, it is recommended to take the train from Alishan Station to Zhaoping Station first. After arriving at Numadaira Station, you can turn right and walk towards Shenmu Station. On the way, you will pass some spectacular attractions such as the Shenmu Group, Sister Pond and Shouzhen Temple. This route is basically downhill, so you won't feel too tired while walking, and there are rest stops selling delicious food along the way. After walking all the way to Shenmu Station, you can buy a train ticket again and return to the original Alishan Station.
