Sarburg is a quaint town located at the top of the gourd-shaped mouth of the Zodo River. It is one of the most important wetlands in Europe and a national nature reserve in Portugal. The land in the Zodo River basin is fertile and rich in resources, producing top-quality rice in Portugal. The town is blessed with natural beauty and tranquility. The opening iron bridge, medieval churches and castles all silently tell the story of history. During the Renaissance, Pedro Nunes, Portugal's most famous scholar, was born here. The town's specialty boat-shaped honey and pine nut cake is named in honor of this great astronomer and mathematician's contribution to Portugal's maritime industry!
