Another gem for coffee lovers—Starbucks Coffee at Akita ALS is conveniently located within walking distance of the Akita JR Station and right beside a high-end hotel, making it a great stop for both locals and travelers. We dropped by in the evening, and although most of the shops in the mall were already closed due to the winter season, Starbucks was still open and welcoming. Entry is through a side door next to the mall’s main entrance, which felt like a hidden little entrance to warmth and caffeine. The holiday spirit was in the air with their Christmas promotion ongoing, and we noticed quite a few students settled in with their books and laptops—clearly a favorite study spot too. Our drinks were up to the usual Starbucks standard, paired with delicious pastries and cakes that hit the spot.
