2025 Accra Travel Guide: Must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transportation routes (updated in May)

I have been in Accra, Ghana 🇬🇭 for several months, and this is my first time visiting Labadi Beach Hotel. The food prices are reasonable, and the taste is acceptable. The three dishes in the picture, along with drinks 🥤 and ice cream 🍦, cost around 600 cedis . The hotel has a fenced private beach that is relatively clean. The public beach outside is okay, but the surrounding area is a bit chaotic with various hotels, restaurants , food stalls, souvenir vendors, and horse-riding services. There is a group of local kids playing football ⚽, which adds a lively atmosphere. However, there are sewage pipes from nearby residential areas directly discharging into the sea, making it unsuitable for swimming. There are three swimming pools, including a children's area and a deep-water area. 👱‍♂️ Adults pay 150 cedis , and 👦 children pay 100 cedis (this also includes access to the private beach). Almost all high-end hotels in Ghana 🇬🇭 charge non-resident guests a fee to use the swimming pool, which is different from Côte d'Ivoire 🇨🇮, where most high-end hotels allow free use of the pool as long as you dine there. The hotel also offers fishing 🎣 for $15 per session, but you need to bring your own fishing rod, and you must release the fish after catching them. I didn't go swimming; I was reading Trevor Noah's 'Born A Crime' the whole time. He writes about his difficult and impoverished past in a brilliant and humorous way. His insights on crime are similar to what I read in NHK's 'Women in Poverty.' Highly recommended!

It is very important for us travelers to learn that a lot of our clothing waste in developed countries contribute to the problem nowadays in Accra.

In Accra, there are plenty of beach front restaurants like Sandbox, Rehab, the resorts, or Ozzie's. Ozzie's is probably the best bang for your buck. It's empty on weekdays, so you can sit directly on the beach or on the upper deck. Prices are great, and so are the vibes. This is a very beautiful garden in Accra, Ghana. It is great for family picnics or romantic picnics. There are activities like canoeing, canopy walk, high rope course, obstacle challenges, bird watching, fishing and cycling… there is also a junior rope course and a playground for the children. There is a price for each of these activities. I’ll advise you to send your own food especially if you’re going there on an ordinary day..because there aren’t a lot of food vendors …probably because I went there on an ordinary Saturday… it may be different on holidays and special occasions. #ghana #accra #legon #picnic #garden #adventure #tripaway

House Party Go-Karts, located close to Bojo Beach on the Kokobite beach road is a fun place to go karting. Had a nice time with my friend. It costs 40ghc per person for just 8 minutes on the track ( which was too short for us 😆) ... It was a very short but fun experience. Aburi Botanical Gardens is the perfect place for family picnics and activities such as cycling with friends ... such a beautiful garden... Visited the independence arch. There’s not much to see here but you can ask to climb to the top of the arch. Nearby is the independence square and the National Stadium. The independence arch is also about a 1km walk from the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park. #ghana #accra IG: bestmaryever_

Dr. Kwame Nkrumah was one of the pioneers and leaders who fought for the independence of Africa from colonial rule. He was the first president of the republic of Ghana after Ghana's independence in 6th March 1957. Sadly Nkrumah died in exile after he was overthrown in a coup. His remains are kept in this fine mausoleum of which today serves as a national and historical site for Africans and non Africans far and beyond. Visit Independence Square and the National Museum to learn about Africa's colonial history and independence movements. The traditional handicrafts and colorful fabrics at the market showcase the creativity and resilience of the Ghanaian people. Sample local dishes such as spicy meat stew and cassava, and learn about the history and culture behind the food. Accra allowed me to see the vitality and hope of the younger generation in Africa.
