All Moments About Segovia
I swear this is the best suckling pig I have ever eaten #Mesón de Cándido - Serbia, Spain
#MarchGoodPlaces2025
When you come to Serbia, Spain, you must visit the Mesón de Cándido roast suckling pig restaurant to feast on it. Located under the aqueduct, the Mesón de Cándido roast suckling pig restaurant is a century-old restaurant and is quite famous locally. The most special thing is that the boss personally cuts the suckling pig. He uses a plate to cut the suckling pig into pieces and then throws the plate on the ground. It is a very special way of eating. The suckling pig's skin is golden and crispy, and the pork is tender and juicy. No wonder tourists like to order this restaurant. There are several roast suckling pig restaurants nearby that also attract customers on the aqueduct, but this roast suckling pig is still the most popular among tourists, perhaps because of its century-old history and reputation!

The Alcázar’s Majestic Architecture 🏛️
The Alcázar of Segovia is a marvel of medieval architecture, with its soaring turrets and intricate stonework that feels straight out of a fairytale. For a more peaceful experience, head there on a weekday morning when crowds are sparse, and you can truly appreciate its grandeur without the usual rush of tourists. Wandering through its halls and soaking in the panoramic views feels even more magical when you have this enchanting place mostly to yourself.

The prototype of the legendary Disney Snow White Castle: Segovia Castle
#Castle #100 ways to travel
Did you know that there is a castle in Spain that is the prototype of Disney’s Snow White Castle? Yes, it is #Segovia, a suburban town not far from Madrid. It is famous for its spectacular Roman aqueduct and fragrant roast suckling pig. This castle is #Segovia Castle Alcázar de Segovia.
This castle built on the cliff is a fortress made of stones. It is condescending and highly defensive. It was later converted into a gorgeous palace of the Spanish royal family. The castle music festival is held regularly every year, attracting many tourists. It is a beautiful castle. One of the two most popular attractions in Govia.
Tickets are required to enter the castle. A special ticket to visit the palace, artillery museum and tower costs €9. If you do not visit the tower, it costs €6. As far as taking beautiful photos is concerned, the exterior of the Segovia Castle is much better than the inside, and it matches perfectly with the earth-yellow mountains in the background.
In fact, the old town of Segovia is not big. Walking from the bus station, you will pass the aqueduct and the main church along the way. You can walk to the castle in about 15-20 minutes. The alleys and buildings along the way have a medieval feel, which is very suitable. Plan a day trip and eat roasted suckling pig!

Walking the Camino Natural del Eresma in fall is like stepping into an autumn wonderland! The vibrant reds, yellows, and oranges paint a magical scene, with the Alcázar peeking through the trees. I’d recommend it if you want a peaceful walk with epic views of Segovia’s charm!

Segovia specialty food - roast suckling pig: Restaurante José María
#Segovia is a popular tourist town near Madrid, Spain. It is famous for its spectacular stone #RomanAqueduct, which is 28 meters high and 728 meters long. It directly cuts across the entire town, and even the road has to give way!
When it comes to Segovia’s delicacies, we have to recommend #roastedsucklingpig. Especially the century-old shop "José María", which has as many as 15,000 reviews on Googlemap and a score of 4.6. You can imagine how amazing it is!
José María's suckling pig is roasted to golden brown, with crispy skin, tender meat, and is so juicy that it melts in your mouth. But the most special thing is the serving show of the roast suckling pig. When the whole suckling pig is served, the chef actually cuts the suckling pig on a "porcelain plate"! You can see how crispy it is when it is baked. The plate can be cut apart and then a spoonful of secret sauce is poured over the dish from the ceramic jar. It is quite an exciting serving show.
In addition, when the food was served, I found that the plates were actually hot! This should be to keep the food at its best temperature and taste, and the details and service are quite attentive.
In addition to roast suckling pig, there are also various Spanish seafood and terroir meals. The taste is pretty good, but the business is too good and there are always long queues. Not only tourists like it, but locals love it too!

Gorgeous, historical Aqueduct of Segovia
If you’re going to Madrid, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is worth a visit too! About an hour or so away, one can conveniently purchase a bus ticket at the Madrid Moncloa station for maybe around 10 euros for a return ticket (I’m sorry I forgot the exact price but it was affordable!). And the bus takes you right to the centre of Segovia, which is great.
From there, in just 10 minutes or so you can walk/stroll to this amazing, impressive aqueduct, very obviously the main feature of this town. It’s unmissable and even the main street leading up to it is named after it. Its grand and old and anything grand and old is worth looking at, in my opinion hahaha because hey, it’s been standing for ages. A little piece of history and culture, you know?

Castle in a fairy tale book 🏰
In Segovia, Spain, there is a castle 🏰 looks like a castle in a fairy tale book 🏰, it is said that the castle 🏰 in the story of Disney's Snow White Park, are using it as a reference blueprint.
The castle🏰 is built on a mountain with a wide view and is strategically in an excellent location.
The castle🏰 looks beautiful and elegant, right in front is square, next to are round shaped pointed roof, it feels very romantic💗💗💗
The interior of the castle🏰 is also quite beautiful, showing the hall, living room, meeting hall, and also displaying many medieval samurai armor and weapons.
And I like to see the scenery from the window, from a high position, with rural views outside the window, open view.
The stained glass in the castle🏰 is very exquisite and beautiful, worthy of careful appreciation.
Finally visit the museum and leave satisfied.

Old Roman Aqueduct
In the ancient city of Segovia in the suburbs of Spain, there is a famous attraction, the remains of the aqueduct, which is a must-see when visiting.
The aqueduct was built in the first century AD and is supported by 167 arches to transport water. But by the 20th century, due to automobile pollution and erosion of the granite, cars were banned from the square and it is now a pedestrian zone.
Walking forward from the bus station, you will soon see a very long and magnificent aqueduct. You can also go up along the stairs on the side and enjoy the view from a high place. The scenery is very beautiful.
It is recommended to travel to Madrid, and it is definitely worth making a day to visit Segovia.

Segovia Cathedral is a 16th century Gothic building. The most different from the Gothic buildings I have seen before is that there are many small spires here. The interior of the cathedral is very gorgeous, with detailed carvings, and some holy relics are preserved in the church, so it is worth paying to visit the cathedral.

#CityTrip
#CityTrip #Spain #Segovia A city where I only remember eating delicious roasted suckling pig and walking around for half a day with ice cream in one hand. Mucho Gracias as a fellow human being to my ancestors who left behind such a functional city. Spain is really cheap, but I only have good memories. The air is good, the wine is delicious, and the people are positive, lazy, slow, and stuffy.

A Tree for Every Mood
#springwander
Each tree here feels different—some wide and welcoming, others tall and thoughtful. Some cast heavy shade, while others scatter light like laughter. Walking through Hontanilla is like walking through yourself. You stop beside one and feel calmer. Another makes you remember. Another, somehow, helps you dream. There’s a tree here for every version of you. A Tree for Every Mood

Flowers Lean Into Light
#springwander
Watch closely and you’ll see it—the subtle tilt of flowers turning toward the sun. It’s not dramatic, but it’s deliberate. In Hontanilla, light is something to be followed, trusted. The petals know. And so do the birds, the trees, the breeze. You start leaning too—not with your body, but with your thoughts. Toward hope, toward growth. Toward light.

When the Wind Turns Warm
#springwander
There’s a shift you feel before you notice it—when the wind stops biting and starts kissing. It carries the scent of blossoms and sunlight, brushing your cheeks like a soft hello. The trees sway in greeting, their leaves rustling in warm conversation. Hontanilla feels alive with this change. The chill of winter finally lets go. And in its place, everything begins to bloom.

A Season You Can Hold
#springwander
Some seasons you pass through. But spring in Hontanilla wraps around you—visible, tangible, unforgettable. You can feel it in your hands, smell it in your hair, see it in your steps. It becomes a part of you. The trees don’t just bloom—they invite. And when you leave, you carry spring with you—not as a memory, but as something real. A Season You Can Hold.

The Roots Beneath Us
#springwander
You walk on paths paved in memory, where the trees above reflect the life below. Roots spread wide and deep, touching more than soil. Hontanilla holds history—not just of nature, but of every soul who’s walked it. You’re part of that now. Spring connects you in ways unseen. And the roots don’t forget. The Roots Beneath Us. A beautiful place to enjoy a walk.

Petals Between Footsteps
#springwander
You begin to notice them—the tiny petals caught in the folds of your shoes, the cuffs of your coat. They travel with you, quietly, like pieces of the park unwilling to say goodbye. Hontanilla follows, in scent, in softness, in memory. And even long after, you find the petals again—reminders that something beautiful once clung to you. Petals Between Footsteps

The Trees Move Slowly
#springwander
There’s a grace to how the trees move. Not in haste, never in panic—but with purpose. They shift with the wind, nod to the birds, hold space for the blossoms. Hontanilla breathes in slow rhythms. You match their pace without trying. And in moving slower, you see more. You feel more. Even your thoughts begin to grow leaves. The Trees Move Slowly 🌲🌴🌳

Flowers the Wind Can’t Take
#springwander
Some blossoms fall. Others hold tight. In Hontanilla, you see both—the surrender and the strength. The wind may shake the trees, but some petals cling, brilliant and brave. There’s a quiet lesson in them. That beauty doesn’t always drift. Sometimes, it stays. And that staying, too, is a form of blooming.

Between Light and Bark
#springwander
Something lives in the space between sunlight and bark—a warmth, a hum, a sense that everything is exactly where it should be. Hontanilla holds that feeling in every tree. You run your hand along the trunk and feel time. You close your eyes beneath the branches and feel home. Spring settles in your chest, uninvited but welcome. Between Light and Bark

The Trees Are Singing
#springwander
It’s not a sound you hear—it’s one you feel. The trees hum with life, and the wind carries the tune. Their branches sway like a chorus, their blossoms flutter like lyrics. In Hontanilla, even silence sings. You walk through music written in roots and flowers. And somehow, you remember the melody—though you’ve never heard it before. The Trees Are Singing

Under the Blossom Rain
#springwander
There are moments when petals fall so steadily, it feels like standing in a quiet snow. The air fills with soft movement, the ground slowly colors with delicate pinks and whites. You stop walking, just to feel part of it. Hontanilla becomes a cathedral of bloom, and the blossoms bless you like light from above. You leave petal-dusted and peaceful. Almost reborn.
