#springitinerary
Spring at Mission San Juan Capistrano is like stepping back in time amid blooming beauty. The gardens were alive with roses, poppies, and lavender, and the famous swallows had returned — adding songs to the air. I explored the old stone ruins, admired the adobe architecture, and spent peaceful moments by the koi ponds. Cool spring breezes made it lovely to linger outdoors. #springitinerary pro tip: visit during the Swallows Day Festival for a lively local celebration. This historic gem is perfect for culture lovers and garden seekers alike. Totally enchanting!

Exploring California's Ancient Churches
🚗 Travel reference: About 1.5 hours drive from Los Angeles, perfect for a half-day trip~
Mission San Juan Capistrano (also known as the Swallow Church)
Built in 1776, it's one of California's oldest Spanish stone churches still in use. The mission site preserves traces of history, with weathered walls complemented by arches and bell towers, creating an atmospheric setting that makes an excellent backdrop for vintage-style portraits or film photography.
✨ Seasonal highlight:
Every March, cliff swallows arrive from Argentina. They return faithfully each year to build nests at the church, creating one of the most romantic natural spectacles here.
📸 Recommended outfit: Cream colors, white dresses, and straw hats - every photo will look like a postcard.

Around La Jolla | You must visit this photogenic garden.
Built in 1776, Mission San Juan Capistrano, also known as the Swallow Church, is a cathedral with a history of over 200 years. According to historical records, the town of San Juan Capistrano was established because of the Swallow Church. More and more people came here and gathered together, forming the oldest town in California as we see it today.
The Swallow Church is the oldest of the 21 missions built by the Spanish during their colonization of California to assimilate the native Indians. The Moorish-style architecture, arcades, and the ruins of the original church finally reveal the origin of the architectural design style of Stanford University. The entire California's integration of Spanish-style architecture probably started here.
The Swallow Church has a kind of incomplete beauty. The American water lilies in the pond reflect the ruins of the former cathedral, "The Great Stone Church."

#summerdestinations
Visiting Mission San Juan Capistrano was a highlight of my summer vacation! 🌿⛪ Located in San Juan Capistrano, about an hour south of Los Angeles, this historic site offers a rich glimpse into California’s past. The entrance fee is around $15 for adults, which includes access to the mission’s stunning gardens, chapel, and museum.
The mission itself is beautifully preserved, with its historic chapel and landmark ruins telling the story of its 18th-century origins. I loved strolling through the lush gardens and exploring the museum’s fascinating exhibits about early California history. The ambiance is serene, making it a perfect spot for a reflective afternoon. Nearby, we enjoyed the charming town of San Juan Capistrano with its quaint shops and restaurants. 🌸🍴
If you’re interested in history and beautiful architecture, Mission San Juan Capistrano is definitely worth a visit!
