#0YenTravel2025Autumn Sendai Airport is relatively empty at all times, making check-in a breeze. I had some extra time, so I had some soba noodles at Soba Restaurant Marumatsu. Founded in 1910, they've been preserving the same flavor for over 100 years. Their homemade soba noodles and authentic broth have maintained the same delicious flavor. In addition to soba noodles, they also offer a wide variety of local Sendai dishes, such as beef tongue set meals. They also offer a selection of soba restaurant-quality snacks to go with your drinks. They open early at 6:30 AM. I ordered their signature homemade soba noodles, a freshly fried shrimp tempura mini bowl set (1,200 yen), and a maitake mushroom tempura and soba set (1,000 yen). The portions of soba noodles were so large I didn't have room for rice. It's the perfect place for a quick meal before heading home. #Sendai

Natori Library is just a 30-second walk from Natori Station. The attached cafe opens earlier than the library, at 7:30am (the library opens from 9am). You can read a borrowed book with a cup of coffee. It seems like it would be more relaxing to sit here, especially when the chairs and tables inside the library are full. What's great is the extensive children's section. There's a wooden house that kids will love, a space where you can take your shoes off and read books, and storytimes. It's also a great place to drop in while waiting for a train. What I often do is look for my next destination. I'll look at the Chikyu no Arukikata and think about my next trip. As a local, I'm excited about the increasing number of international flights from Sendai Airport, but when I get back, I immediately crave Japanese food. This time I flew to Kaohsiung on Tigerair, and since I didn't order an in-flight meal, I arrived at 6pm and was starving. In search of Japanese food, I headed to the restaurant area on the third floor of Sendai Airport. As I went up the escalator, I saw Soba Dokoro Marumatsu immediately to the right. This long-established restaurant also has a branch at Sendai Station. A set of soba noodles topped with plenty of Sanriku wakame seaweed and negitoro donburi (green onion and fatty tuna rice bowl) was a welcome relief from travel fatigue. The salty broth was also great. It's reasonably priced, and they also offer local dishes like beef tongue, which is a great thing. They even had a point-and-click conversation book for international customers. They accept various cards and cashless payments, and they're open from 6:30am, so it's very convenient! Sendai Daikannon (仙台大観音) is a suburban attraction located in Sendai City. It is a 100-meter-tall statue of Kannon, making it one of the tallest Kannon statues in the world. It belongs to the Daikanmitsuji Temple (大観密寺) and is officially named "Tendō Byakue Daikannon." Initially, one might think the Daikannon can only be viewed from the outside, but it actually has 12 floors inside that are open for visitors. These floors house 108 Buddha statues, making it a unique Buddhist attraction! To visit Sendai Daikannon, you need to take a bus from the bus stops outside Sendai Station. Buses depart from platforms 18 and 19, with signs indicating which buses go to Sendai Daikannon. You can take buses numbered 810, 910, X910, 825, or 815. The journey takes approximately 40 minutes. The bus stop for Sendai Daikannon is right by the roadside. Once you arrive, you will quickly spot the towering Daikannon statue. Nearby is the Sendai Hills Hotel (仙台ヒルズホテル). While on the bus, you can already see the Daikannon from a distance. The Daikannon is 12 stories tall and open for visitors to explore. There is an admission fee for entry. Visitors can use either the stairs or the elevator, though the elevator only stops at the 6th, 10th, and 12th floors.

On this trip to Sendai, I visited five beef tongue restaurants. While each had its own unique characteristics, after comparing them, I personally love #たんやり善治郎Minamimachidori branch. The restaurant's high quality is immediately apparent upon entering: the restrained Japanese atmosphere, the sturdy tables and chairs, the detailed menu, and the satisfying service are unmatched by the others. The beef tongue was also perfect for me: thick, tender yet crispy, with a charcoal aroma but not too salty. The prices were the most affordable of the three, and it's no wonder there's always a long line. We were able to try zunda sweets at the airport! They also have one at Sendai Station. If you miss them in the city, this is your last chance to eat them! We bought a zunda shake and a zunda cream bun! The zunda shake was a bit of a hit with the kids (they don't like edamame), but the cream bun was gone in a flash...they were fighting, arguing, and fighting over it (lol). The cream was incredibly delicious! They were all eaten up in no time, so I think it might have been fine for each kid to have just one!!

I ordered the flying fish niboshi/soy sauce flavor, which has a rich fishy aroma and a light soy sauce taste—perfect for finishing the entire bowl. The thin straight noodles have a nice wheat fragrance and a satisfying chewiness. The char siu (extra portion) includes three types, two slices each, prepared in a modern style. One of my companions tried the shrimp broth with seaweed salt, while another opted for the vegetable white broth. This is considered one of Sendai's more modern ramen representatives. It is then possible to take a 45-minute subway ride out of the city, which is very convenient. Although taking the Shinkansen from Tokyo to Sendai is also fast, it is more expensive. The entry and exit of Sendai Airport is the fastest among all the airports in Japan (it may be slower if two international flights arrive at the same time), and there is a railway directly to the city center, with a train every 20 minutes and a 25-27 minute drive. Flying directly to Sendai is a great experience.

Value the Hotel Sendai Natori is a hotel where the rooms are lined up like containers from Natori, Miyagi Prefecture, stretching out vertically and horizontally. Each container is a room. The containers are stacked two-tiered on each side, and five rows continue to the back, and the same view unfolds, but each corridor is divided into colorful colors such as blue, pink, and green, and the rooms are clearly divided. The inside of the room has the atmosphere of a simple business hotel room. The containers are well-made, and there was no noise from the other rooms. The bed, air conditioner, TV, desk, and refrigerator are standard equipment. The only thing to note is that the unit bath does not have a washlet. Breakfast includes a free buffet for guests. Today's menu is also labeled with allergy information. It's not flashy, but it's simple and includes Sendai's specialty, sasakamaboko. There are three laundry corners in each container color on the second floor corridor. There is also complimentary coffee near the front desk in the evenings, evenings, and mornings. I always stop by the airport restaurant Trageon Galley while waiting at Sendai Airport. Here you can enjoy specialty dishes and alcohol from the six Tohoku prefectures✨ On this day, I enjoyed Tohoku craft beer and an assortment of appetizers from lunchtime♪ The beer I chose was "Munich" from Yamagata.
