Chasing Sakura at Yonomori Cherry Blossom Tunnel
#cherryblossom25
The Yonomori Cherry Blossom Tunnel, considered to be the pride of Tomioka Town in Fukushima Prefecture, was partially inaccessible due to its designation as a no-go zone as a result of the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake and tsunami. However, with the lifting of evacuation orders in 2017 and 2023, the entire cherry blossom tunnel is now accessible once again. ☺
The outstretched branches of around 420 cherry trees, which have been planted alongside this road from the Meiji Period onwards, create a beautiful tunnel of cherry blossoms🌸 The best time to view them is usually from early to mid-April, when the trees are lit up at night during their peak! This year, the Yonomori Cherry Blossom Festival 2025 will be held on Saturday, April 5 and Sunday, April 6, in an event featuring a variety of stage shows and stalls✨
