A beautiful Japanese hot spring secret in the suburbs of Tokyo——Takagawa Onsen Wangquankaku
#Tokyo Hot Springs
Want to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city and find a piece of pure land? Takara River Hot Spring Wangquan Pavilion around Tokyo is definitely the first choice.
It is located in Fujiwara 1899, Minakami-cho, Tone-gun, Gunma Prefecture, about 2 hours' drive from Tokyo Station. Takara River Hot Spring covers an area of nearly 800 square meters. The courtyards and pavilions are all Japanese style. The architecture is perfectly integrated with the surrounding natural beauty, like a paradise.
There is 1 indoor hot spring and 4 open-air hot springs here. The open-air hot springs are divided into mixed bathing and women-only. The mixed bathing area includes Maha no Yu, Hannya no Yu and Takara no Yu. Among them, Maha no Yu has the largest area, is open 24 hours a day, and can accommodate 100 people; Hannya no Yu has an area of 80 square meters and is also open 24 hours a day; Takara no Yu was newly built not long ago, with men's and women's dressing rooms, and can accommodate up to 200 people. The women's only hot spring is Maya no Yu, with cypress dressing rooms that never dry up in all seasons. All hot springs use natural underground spring water, without adding water, heating, filtering and circulation, and adding no bathing agents or medicines.
After soaking in the hot springs, you can go to the in-house restaurant "Takeya" to taste authentic Japanese cuisine, such as charcoal-grilled cuisine and Joshu beef "Sukiyaki". Most of the ingredients are locally sourced and fresh and delicious. However, some travelers reported that the floors and private bathrooms in the hotel rooms are worn and need to be updated. If you want to go there, you can take the Shinkansen from Tokyo Station to Oge Kogen Station and then transfer to a bus; you can also choose to drive yourself, take the highway from Tokyo's Nerima I.C or Niigata's Nishigata I.C, and it will take about 90 minutes to reach Minakami I.C, and then go along National Highway No. 291 County Road.
