Don't miss the gorgeous and ancient Wat Xieng Thong when you come to Luang Prabang!
This laid-back ancient city has more than 30 temples, and Wat Xieng Thong is one you absolutely must see! Located at the northernmost tip of Luang Prabang's old town, it was built in 1560 and is a treasure trove of classic Lao art and craftsmanship.
·
Coconut palms sway gently beneath the gleaming golden roofs, alongside gold-leaf reliefs and stained-glass murals on the red walls. When the soft evening sunlight falls, it's as if the temple is draped in a golden veil.
·
📍: Wat Xieng Thong, Luang Prabang Old Town
📅: 8:00–17:00, 20,000 kip (approx. 7 CNY)/person
·
1️⃣ Tree of Life: On the outer wall of the back hall is a giant mosaic mural, a beautifully embossed wall decorated with stained glass.
2️⃣ Red Wall Window: A window everyone loves to take photos with! Located in a small hall in the corner of the temple, it's both charming and photogenic.
3️⃣ The temple's low, layered roofs are characteristic of Luang Prabang! The eaves are so wide they almost touch the ground, complemented by intricate gold-leaf reliefs. The traditional Lao architecture is a must-see! Every corner is also adorned with blooming bougainvillea. Even just sitting on a small chair for a photo is a beautiful experience.
·
✅ Tips:
👉🏻 Dress code for the temple: Shoulders and knees must be covered (shawls are available for rent at the entrance!).
👉🏻 Shoes must be removed before entering the halls. Photography and loud talking are not allowed inside. When taking photos of monks in the temple, maintain a respectful distance and do not disturb their daily life.

Wat Xieng Thong: A Jewel of Luang Prabang
#getgoing2025
Wat Xieng Thong was a masterpiece of Lao architecture and spirituality. The intricate mosaics, gilded carvings, and serene courtyards made it a place of both beauty and reflection. The Tree of Life mural, shimmering with glass tiles, was particularly mesmerizing. Walking through this sacred space, I felt a deep appreciation for the artistry and devotion that has preserved this temple for centuries.

The bread is delicious, a vestige of the French colonial past! Recommended bakeries in Luang Prabang🥐
A very delicious bakery in Luang Prabang
JOMA Bakery cafe☕️🥐
I went in December, so it was a Christmas mood🎄✨
Luang Prabang used to be a French territory, so
the bread is just delicious...‼︎
Nowadays, Luang Prabang has many cafes,
but this JOMA bakery is a long-established store and is very popular.
When I went (9:00am),
there were only two tables left in the store.
By 10am, there were a few tables available,
so it might be better to go later in the morning◎
When you go inside, the delicious aroma of coffee fills the air, and it's a very relaxing space...♡
There was a wide variety of breads and cakes as well.
I didn't get greedy and ordered a cheese croissant and coffee😌
The croissant was crispy and chewy...!
Next time I want to try a bagel too~~~🥯
Ham & cheese croissant 49,000 kip
Iced coffee 23,000 kip

Luang Prabang International Airport Luang Prabang
#WinterTravel
Location: Luang Prabang International Airport
Atmosphere: Luang Prabang International Airport is conveniently located near the city center, making it easy to get to and from the airport. Although it is a small airport with few restaurants and shops, there are cafes and a money exchange. You can exchange Thai baht for Lao kip at the airport. The rate is good. But the overall experience is quite satisfactory. The process is fast and efficient, which may be because there are not many people around, which is a big plus. Overall, this is a good and suitable airport.

Zurich Bread Factory & Cafe คาเฟ่หลวงพระบาง
#WinterTravel
Location: Zurich Bread Factory & Cafe, Luang Prabang
Ambience: I visited this cafe during my croissant eating trip. I chose a plain croissant to taste the real taste, without being overpowered by any pastry, filling or toppings. What can I say? You obviously used low-quality butter. The croissant had a bitter aftertaste in my mouth.
If you position yourself as a premium coffee shop with a relatively high price tag, please use French butter or at least European butter, but not Israeli butter.
Service and atmosphere are good.
