All Moments About Lake Balaton
The Largest Lake in Central Europe
Lake Balaton is a freshwater lake in western Hungary. There are numerous resorts located around the lake, and the town which I chose to visit is Siofok. It takes roughly 2 hours via train to get here from Hungary’s capital, Budapest.
I visited during the winter season, so most of the bars, restaurants and water activities were closed. However, if you visit in the Summer season, the plenty of bars, restaurants and night clubs will be sure to attract you to this town.
One of the must do when at Lake Balaton is to catch the sunset. Due to the clear waters, as the sun sets, it looks like it’s gradually receding into the waters below and you’ll be able to snap some beautiful pictures!
A must go when visiting Budapest

Lake Balaton
Lake Balaton, often referred to as the “Hungarian Sea,” is Central Europe’s largest freshwater lake and a popular holiday destination. Known for its charming towns, vineyards, and beaches, it offers a variety of recreational activities, including swimming, sailing, and hiking. The picturesque town of Balatonfüred and the medieval Tihany Peninsula, with its monastery, are some of the highlights of the region.

Hungary-Lake Balaton
Day 12 of road trip. Stopped by this lake along our way to Zagreb. It’s a very peaceful town with restaurants, cafe and nice houses overlooking the lake. Not the kind of main attraction but really a nice place to stop by along the way, have lunch or coffee, take a small walk and chill out with some local food like the langos.
Really hope to have one of the lake facing apartments 😆

Clear water to cool down
The weather in Hungary is very hot these days, similar to Thailand. For those who love to soak in water and enjoy a nice atmosphere, head to Balaton. You won't be disappointed. #travel to the lake
Let’s go
When Tagor
When Tagore was alive, he recuperated in a small town by Lake Balaton. Taking advantage of the Halloween trip, I also came to Lake Balaton to experience Tagore's paradise. Lake Balaton has few tourists, which is very suitable for traveling in October. It only takes one day to walk around. If you have time, you can definitely visit it.
