Is this America? I went to Escon Field Hokkaido!
ESCON Field opened in 2023 as the home field of the Nippon-Ham Fighters. I heard that it is enjoyable not only for baseball fans but also for those who are not!
It is a 20-minute walk from the nearest station, JR Kitahiroshima Station. It may seem a little far to walk, but on a nice day, it may be just right to walk there as a stroll. There is also a shuttle bus from Kitahiroshima Station to ESCON Field, so the shuttle bus is convenient for those with small children, the elderly, and those who don't want to get tired before watching a baseball game!
When we arrived at ESCON Field, it was crowded with many people. Outside the stadium, there were playground equipment for children and a small artificial turf field where many children were playing. Nearby, there was a small pond with a lawn around it, and many people were lying down and relaxing. There are also popular bakeries, cafes, and general stores, so it was crowded even before the game started.
It's finally time to enter ESCON Field!
When you enter, the light comes in through the glass wall, which is the symbol of ESCON Field, and the bright and open field jumps into your eyes. The atmosphere is completely different from any other Japanese stadium, it feels like you're in America!
Before the game started, I walked around the stadium. There are Fighters goods shops and many shops selling various stadium gourmet. Of course, there was also a Nippon Ham shop! Here you can get hot dogs made with Schau Essen! There is a beer brewery on the back screen, and you can enjoy beer on the terrace while watching the field! During the game, vendors go around the seats selling beer and other drinks, so I bought a beer from a vendor and watched the game!
This time, I visited to watch baseball, but the restaurants in S.Con Field are open even on days when there are no baseball games, so it might be a good idea to just drop by and enjoy the stadium gourmet and the atmosphere of the stadium!
