🕰️Business Hours: 8:30-16:30 There are bus from Tokyo station every 20minutes, and it takes about 2hours to get there. I visited on mid-summer but i felt the temperature was cooler when i entered the shrine because of the shade of the trees and the breeze. I walk in to pray in the first shrine and going more further until going to the Mitarai pond. The water is clear blue, it was mystical with the torii and tree that grew sideways which is so unique. It was a refreshing day trip from Tokyo.

We went to Kashima Shrine! Kashima Shrine is famous in Ibaraki. We had lunch at Fisherman's Banya Meshi Kashima Toyoeimaru Jingu Branch on the way back from the first shrine visit of the year 🍚 This restaurant opened two years ago and is now a very popular one! Akashihama Torii at Kashima Shrine in Kashima City, Ibaraki Prefecture 𓂃◌𓈒𓐍 𓂃◌𓈒𓐍𓂃◌𓈒𓐍𓂃 Kashima Shrine is the Ichinomiya of Hitachi Province, with Ichinotorii gates on the east, west, north and south. This is located at the eastern torii gate ⛩. The wooden torii gate is the landmark. Although it has a quiet appearance, this place is a power spot that is said to be the beginning of ley lines. Ley lines are the paths of the sun. There are said to be several of them, but if you follow the path they take, you will find many power spots. A straight line connecting Kashima Shrine → Imperial Palace → Meiji Shrine → Mt. Fuji → Ise Shrine → Mt. Yoshino → Mt. Tsurugi → Takachiho Shrine. Kashima Shrine in Kashima City, Ibaraki Prefecture, the Northern First Torii and Togakushi Shrine 𓂃◌𓈒𓐍 𓂃◌𓈒𓐍𓂃◌𓈒𓐍𓂃 Kashima Shrine is the Ichinomiya of Hitachi Province, with First Torii gates on the east, west, north and south. Right next to this northern torii is another torii. The Togakushi Shrine plaque is hung here, and the grounds are called "Godo Mori," and it is said to have been a forest of giant black pine trees. It is said that this forest was used as a landmark by those who sailed along the Pacific coast and made their living from coastal fishing. It is said that in the past, people who came from the Mito area to visit Kashima Shrine would pass through this torii gate. Nowadays, it seems that very few people who visit Kashima Shrine also come this far. There is no parking lot, so if you are coming by car, it is best to find a place to park somewhere before coming. The other torii gates on the east, west, and south sides face the sea, but this is the only one that is located in the forest. I visited here while touring the three major shrines in the eastern part of Japan. Within the shrine grounds, historic giant trees and famous trees stand tall, creating a divine aura that makes you feel as if you've wandered into the world of Ghibli. Its beauty makes it easy to see why it is called the most powerful power spot in the Kanto region. Takemikazuchi-no-Okami is enshrined at Kashima Shrine. He is known as the god of the founding of Japan and martial arts. He has a deep connection with Katori Shrine, which is also one of the three major shrines in the eastern part of Japan, and his keystone holds down a giant catfish that is said to cause earthquakes in Japan. This is also the model for the keystone that appears in the movie "Suzume no Tojiri." If you visit Kashima Shrine, it's definitely worth a visit. The photo shows the pebbles that appear in our national anthem. It can get busy at times, so you can relax and enjoy the sight of the deer nearby while you wait for your turn. Also, right next to the shrine is a bronze statue of Tsukahara Toden, a master swordsman from the Warring States period, and information about the filming locations of Tsukahara Toden (a historical drama) is written within the shrine grounds. It might be nice to visit while thinking about this master swordsman from long ago.
