Even seeing the long queue, I decided that this little moment of happiness would begin with Thai Won. A Dining Experience on the Streets of Thailand Luckily, it was a weekday, and after a short wait, we were led to the second-floor dining area. The details at the stairwell corner and the Thai decorations scattered throughout the space seamlessly connected to the exotic atmosphere. The atmosphere here is exceptionally well-crafted. The unique decor creates a truly distinctive illusion of dining on a Thai street, instantly healing a weary mood with its exotic charm. Bib Gourmand Recommended Local Delicacies Hungry, we ordered several highly-rated signature dishes: Thai Shrimp Fried Rice Noodles: The fried rice noodles, hailed as the restaurant's signature dish, lived up to its reputation. The perfectly cooked rice noodles, brimming with wok hei (wok aroma), were evenly coated in a special sweet, sour, and savory sauce, topped with large, fresh shrimp. Every bite was bursting with authentic Thai flavor, a rich and layered taste that was simply irresistible. Seafood Mama Noodles: The chewy Mama noodles were stir-fried with fresh seafood. The noodles absorbed the essence of the broth, resulting in a springy texture and a spicy, appetizing flavor. Fish Ball Soup: The clear broth paired with firm fish balls provided a refreshing and mild contrast to the strong flavors of the Thai stir-fries, balancing the palate. Of course, Thai milk tea is an absolute must-try when enjoying Thai cuisine. Tea and milk are served separately, allowing you to add as much as you like. I highly recommend this super popular and exciting outdoor destination – Kaohsiung Golf Resort! This used to be a golf driving range, but now it's a new "urban oasis" for southerners to unwind on weekends, couples on dates, and families to play sports! 💡 My personal tips: ❤️Clothing suggestion: No need for professional golf attire! A simple polo shirt, casual pants, or dress paired with white shoes will give you a stylish "Korean sporty" look. ❤️Transportation: Parking is convenient for both motorcycles and cars, but I still recommend arriving early to secure your spot! In the afternoon, many people arrive for picnics 🧺 ❤️Fun: Kaohsiung Green Park is truly more than just a sports venue. It's easy to get to if you have an IC card or ICash, and you can tap in and out at the station and wait to board and disembark. 🚝 The light green LRT line is a monorail, running in a circle around Kaohsiung. You can sit and enjoy a long ride and see Kaohsiung city at your leisure. If you have plenty of time, I highly recommend it. After your ride, you can get off and take photos with the train. *Note: Some stations have staff to assist and check entry and exit, while others don't. It's one of the largest department stores in Kaohsiung. Since it's close to Hall Arena, where events are always happening, it's no surprise that this mall is packed with people shopping and sightseeing. 🥯 The mall has several floors, probably 5-6, and it's packed with items. And it's also packed with people. Coral Reef Cliff is a scenic viewpoint on Qijin Island. It features towering cliffs that meet the sky and ocean waves, creating a stunning natural sculpture. The view is so harmonious, it feels like admiring a piece of art—truly pleasing to the eyes and mind. From the viewpoint, there is a natural trail about 300 meters long that allows you to explore the surrounding scenery. You can also enjoy an unobstructed view of the sunset in its full glory. Because the passenger capacity is so large—for example, the cruise ship I was on had 3780 passengers—the baggage boarding and disembarking process is quite different from airplane boarding. Before queuing to board, you need to attach the baggage tags provided by the travel agency beforehand, and then check in large luggage. Smaller items, such as carry-on suitcases, can be carried on. After passing through baggage security, staff will deliver your luggage to your cabin door free of charge, so you don't have to drag your luggage around the ship. Due to the thorough security checks on all luggage, there may be a two-hour delay in delivery after departure. However, having it delivered directly to your cabin door is a very important service; otherwise, the scene of retrieving your luggage after boarding would definitely be terrifying! 😱 On the penultimate day of the trip, you will receive tags to attach to your luggage. At this point, you need to leave your luggage outside your cabin before the deadline so that staff can collect it and ensure a smooth disembarkation process. However, be aware that since checked luggage is collected the day before disembarkation, remember to pack items you'll need on your last day separately to avoid the embarrassing situation of having to disembark in your pajamas. ♡No quantity or weight restrictions! ♡ Things to Do Without Internet Since cruise internet packages are quite expensive, we decided to spend a few pure and disconnected days on the ship. Of course, we still purchased a SIM card when we disembarked in Japan 🇯🇵. But what do a group of people without internet do while stuck on a cruise ship? Every day, the cruise company delivers a daily newsletter to your cabin door, informing passengers about the schedule of activities, such as a live performance "Venetian Romance" at 7:30 PM on Decks 3-5 of the theater. The highlight of each day was receiving the schedule, marking the activities of interest, and showing up at the designated spots on time to participate 💃🏻. The activities are diverse, including group dances 🕺🏻, bingo jackpots, language classes, live performances 🎭, and more, filling up the time between eating, bathing, and sleeping. If there’s ever a moment of downtime, the ship also offers a swimming pool 🏊, karaoke, a casino, table tennis 🏓 (balls cost $1 each, but paddles are free 🆓), and sunbathing on the deck 🌞. As a result, the book 📖 I brought along remained untouched throughout the trip 😆—I was seriously busy finding things to do. ♡ Alcohol 🍷 and Beverage 🥤 Packages The ship provides each person with one bottle of mineral water daily and plain water with tea bags in the dining areas. For those who can’t go a day without drinks, it’s essential to purchase a beverage package. This package allows you to order any soft drinks, cocktails 🍹, aperitifs, etc., at any open bar on the ship during the voyage. However, the daily cost per person only makes sense if you drink a lot, and everyone in the same cabin must purchase the same package. Since I’m not particularly fond of drinks, this option didn’t appeal to me 🧲, so I don’t have much experience to share here. That said, seeing groups of friends chatting 💬 and drinking 🍺 at the bar is undoubtedly another way to enjoy a cruise. It even reminded me of the night Wang Manni met her unfaithful boyfriend in "Nothing But Thirty." Looking back, I realize there’s so much to share about a cruise trip. While these might seem like ordinary details to seasoned travelers, for a first-timer like me, it’s all quite fascinating 🤭.

This post continues to share some unexpected and interesting things that happened on the cruise ship 😊 ♡Big ships 🚢 sway just as much! You've probably heard that big ships are more stable, but actually, you can get seasick on both big ships and speedboats 🛥️. Although big ships are more stable than speedboats, they still sway with the waves, and the feeling is more pronounced during acceleration, plus it lasts 24 hours. Speedboats, while bumpy, are relatively fast and the swaying is short; you can just take seasickness medication and it will pass. Therefore, if you're prone to seasickness, you should prepare plenty of seasickness medication 💊 and sleeping pills before a cruise. You might even need to specifically choose a cabin less prone to seasickness, otherwise, being constantly swayed with nowhere to escape can be very uncomfortable. For example, on the first day of boarding, I wasn't used to the slight swaying of the cruise ship. Besides walking 🚶♀️➡️, I felt very dizzy even when showering and sleeping. While I wasn't exactly nauseous 🤮, it wasn't very comfortable either, and my body gradually got used to the feeling later. ♡ My room key was my ID card 🪪 and credit card. Since passports are collected upon boarding, the cruise company gives each person a room key with their name, room number, meal times, etc. Besides opening the room door, this card is also linked to my credit card 💳 for onboard purchases. A few days before departure, I received information about a tour package to Okinawa and Miyako Island offered by the cruise line. However, due to some restrictions 🚫, these tours couldn't be booked before boarding; they needed to be booked at the cruise line's counter on board, and there were limits on the number of participants. As mentioned in the previous post, we were among the last passengers to board, and after boarding ⚓️, we went straight to the restaurant for dinner. After dinner, we participated in the second round of emergency evacuation drills (because without participating, you can't make any purchases on board). Therefore, by the time we finally had time to book our tours, all the Miyako Island tours were sold out, with no waiting lists available. Upon actually visiting, I discovered 🤔 that compared to Okinawa's well-developed tourist infrastructure and convenient public transportation to major attractions, Miyako Island is indeed quite difficult to navigate without a tour group, a taxi, or a pre-booked car. No wonder everyone is scrambling to book Miyako Island tours. ♡There are many internet plans! Unlike the base station internet connection on land, internet access at sea 🛜 relies on satellite connections. Therefore, the process is different from inserting a SIM card or scanning an eSIM, and the price is also higher. This cruise trip offered five or six internet plans 📱, such as WhatsApp packages, social media packages (including: Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Snapchat, Telegram, Threema, TikTok, Tumblr, Twitter, and WeChat), and per-minute plans, catering to different needs. However, perhaps because Costa is an Italian cruise brand, its system doesn't include LINE, the most popular messaging app in Taiwan. To use LINE on board, you have to choose either an "all-inclusive" or "per-minute" plan. This is quite different from the idea of ​​buying a SIM card that works for everything! A few months ago, I finished my island-hopping cruise in Japan. We were on the Costa Serena, departing from Kaohsiung and stopping at Naha and Miyako Island before returning to Kaohsiung. Since it's been a while since the trip, I'll share a few highlights that still stand out! ♡ Queues, queues, and more queues! Because it's a very large cruise ship, although boarding and disembarkation were staggered to disperse the crowds, the queues were still incredibly long. Dining was also unavoidable. While the buffet had longer hours and was open to a walk-in queue, the main restaurant had designated time slots for each guest, and those who didn't arrive within the designated time were denied entry. Therefore, during specific dining times, the restaurant entrances were absolutely packed. Because we were assigned the latest time slot on our first day of boarding, we didn't actually get to eat until around 9 PM. We had barely taken a few bites when the emergency drill announcement came on, which was a very unpleasant experience! Because the life jackets were in our rooms, but we went straight to the restaurant to eat as soon as we boarded, and everyone was crammed onto the stairs throughout the ship wearing enormous life jackets like they were fleeing a disaster. We had no chance to get our own life jackets and were too exhausted. At that moment, all I could think was, "Am I here for a relaxing vacation or to suffer?" Although the cruise ship has many elevators, it still couldn't handle such a huge flow of people, and the elevator buttons often didn't work. So, on the first day, we decided to give the elevators to elderly people in wheelchairs and climb the stairs ourselves, whether it was the fifth or seventh floor. Another issue is that the cruise ship is divided into front and back sections. We stayed in interior cabins in the back section, and only a few decks of these led to the front. Therefore, we often had to climb several decks in the back, walk through corridors to the front, and then climb several more decks. At first, we were completely disoriented 🗺️, getting lost not only in the cabin area trying to find our rooms, but also throughout the entire ship – we walked a ton of miles! While strolling through Pier-2, I came across a beautiful little restaurant. The wooden decor combined with a touch of industrial style made me want to step inside and take a look. The sunlight streaming through the large floor-to-ceiling windows made the entire space feel cozy and inviting. After finishing my afternoon tea, I stepped outside just in time to catch the sunset over Dagang Bridge. Kaohsiung's signature satay hot pot is a must-try when visiting. There are many satay hot pot brands, each with its own unique charm and appeal. I've tried them all, and my favorite is (Xu Taishan Satay Hot Pot). Their satay sauce has won a gold medal; it's incredibly fragrant, not too salty or greasy, and absolutely delicious. It's my absolute favorite. When entertaining guests or dining alone, I always order the (Frosty Beef Set Meal) and (Angus Short Rib Set Meal), but I don't eat the beef rice. The (Matsusaka Pork Set Meal) is fantastic! Located in the B3 food court of Hanshin Department Store/Chenggong Store, (Xu Taishan Satay Hot Pot) is my kitchen. The space is spacious and comfortable, and the staff are friendly and welcoming, making me feel right at home. Delicious food combined with warmth makes it a wonderful restaurant and highly recommended.

At the end of the tunnel, you'll reach a scenic viewpoint at the coral reef cliff. 🏮 Sunfong Temple is a Taoist temple with a history spanning hundreds of years. It is famous for its red lanterns that adorn the entire temple. The architecture of the temple resembles that of a northern Chinese palace. 🏮 Inside the temple, incense is provided for free for visitors to use during their prayers. Instructions for worship are available in both Chinese and English. Apart from paying respects, the temple is also a popular photography spot due to its decoration with over a thousand red lanterns. It is recommended to visit in the evening until nighttime to witness the beautiful illuminated lanterns. 🏮 P.S. On the day of our visit, we only had time in the morning, so we missed seeing the lanterns lit up at night. In particular, the sandy beach on Qijin Island is black, a unique sight, with sculptures lining it. Great for taking photos and checking in. Oh, and there's also an old-fashioned pedestrian street. #TravelChat 🛳️ We planned to visit Qijin Island and boarded the ferry at Pier KW2. The harbor atmosphere was nice and clean. The shops and boats were neat and orderly. Today's destination was to cross to Qijin Island. Ferrys arrived every half hour. We had to wait for them. Once the ferry docked, we lined up to board. Payment was made by tapping your ICash card or ICcard at the machine on the boat. The ferry cost NT$80 per trip and took about 10 minutes. We arrived at the Qijin Island pier. It was very convenient. I recommend checking the ferry schedule in advance. We researched this temple and found it to be one of the five oldest Longshan temples. We followed the map and found a temple in front of us. It was very impressive and full of locals. While we weren't familiar with the various ceremonies, we stood and watched the worshippers perform their rituals. A kind-hearted old woman gave us tips on various methods: buying offerings, making offerings, and burning paper. The people here were very friendly and helpful, always smiling to tourists like us. Fengshan Longshan Temple was built in honor of the Bodhisattva Guan Yin. If you're visiting Kaohsiung, come and pray at one of the oldest Longshan temples.
