It's been over twenty years since I last visited Jiufen. I was surprised to find that this mountain town is still bustling and the shops are as familiar as ever! How can you miss the joy of wandering through the alleys in this charming mountain town of Taipei? The narrow streets of the old town are filled with a variety of snack shops and craft stores. Walking along the street, you must try the handmade taro balls and buy the famous Alan's grass cakes... these are all childhood memories! From Ximending, you can board bus 965 which gets you all the way to Jiu Fen in comfort! My ride took about 40 minutes, very convenient and I get to enjoy the scenery along the way. It was sad to see that many stores at Jiu Fen were closed during my visit to Jiu Fen in early Dec 2022. They were not spared from the pandemic as well. Do check the weather forecast before setting off to Jiu Fen. As it’s not a fully sheltered place, it’s really inconvenient when it’s rains and freezing cold to be there.
