2025 Great Ocean Road Travel Guide: Must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transportation routes (updated in April)

I chartered a car with my friends for a day trip to the Great Ocean Road over the weekend. We departed from the city center at 8:30 in the morning and took about an hour and a half to reach the first destination, the lighthouse. We then continued playing along the way and arrived at the final destination around 5:00. "Twelve Apostles", just in time for the sunset🌇, it will be around 8 o'clock when we return to the city center. This itinerary is quite reasonable! I had lunch at a local Chinese restaurant, the only one open because we arrived late for lunch. 🍚 After lunch, we headed to the coast of Apollo Bay! Walking along the coast, our steps were accompanied by the sound of the waves, feeling the gentle touch of the sea on the sand. Next, we visited the Great Ocean Road Memorial Arch, a landmark that attracts countless tourists. Finally, we arrived at the Cape Otway Lightstation, a cute lighthouse perched on a spectacular coastline, making it a highlight of the Great Ocean Road and a great spot for photos.

I hope I'll be safe. - Warning signs are very reliable. They say there's construction ahead, but there really are people working there. They say to watch out for animals crossing the road, but there's a dead kangaroo on the side of the road. - Fill up the gas yourself and pay for it yourself at a minimart. First time filling up, I was a bit embarrassed because the queue was very long, but I still didn't forget to take a picture. - There are both free and paid parking spaces (with a limited parking hours). #celebratewithtrip the next stop of my great ocean road road trip was actually the wreck. it is also very beautiful over here and you can take some nice pictures. this is a must visit as the pictures would turn out great too. and there isn’t much people hence easy to take pictures. similarly it is very easy to reach here with no steep slopes and a straight route from the car park hence suitable and manageable for people of all ages. highly recommended to come here if you have the chance to visit during your great ocean road road trip. sea was very blue and beautiful. together with the rocks it was mesmerizing and pretty.

This was our first time driving overseas, and boy was it a memorable one! We had entire beaches to ourselves, we witnessed magnificent waterfalls, we were greeted by rainbows and wondrous sea scapes every day. We loved the long walks by the beach, and the treks in the Great Otways, and looking out for wildlife like kangaroos and koalas. The locals were so friendly, and the food was simply delicious too - try the scallop pies, they’re simply out of this world! The great ocean road is one of the world's most scenic drives, running along the south coast of Australia between Melbourne and Adelaide. You could see part of it on a day tour from either city, but if you want to see the whole thing, you'll need at least two or three days. If you don't have access to your own car, there are plenty of tours running from both Melbourne and Adelaide. Along the way you can stop at a number of spots for some amazing views. The Grampians is a great spot as are the Twelve Apostles. The twelve apostles are a collection of stone pillars rising up from the ocean. If you're lucky you might even come across some wildlife along the way like koalas, kangaroos and wallabies.

Today I will share with you my guide for a one-day trip to the Great Ocean Road! This most beautiful road is really amazing! Suitable for weekends or friends who drive by the Great Ocean Road to check in! Itinerary: Melbourne ➡️Geelong Town➡️Bells Beach➡️Little Red Riding Hood Lighthouse➡️Kennett River➡️Twelve Apostles➡️Return --- First stop: Geelong town. I saw lots of painted puppets, each one was unique and cute! Second stop: Bells Beach is indeed a paradise for surfing enthusiasts! The waves are really nice ~ 10 minutes drive from the Great Ocean Road Arch, a surfing destination with unbeatable sea views! Even if you don’t surf, sitting on the cliff and watching the waves is super therapeutic. Remember to bring a windproof jacket, the wind at the beach is very strong! The third stop: Little Red Riding Hood Lighthouse. Great for taking photos. When the weather is good, it feels like a fairy tale world! Fourth stop: Kennett River wild koala + parrot paradise! Be sure to stop here if you pass by! You can see wild koalas on the roadside and feed rainbow parrots, which are super cute! It is recommended to bring some bird food, and the parrots will fly directly into your hands! The fifth stop: Twelve Apostles, the highlight of the Great Ocean Road! The sunset is so beautiful that it is breathtaking. The golden sunlight shines on the rocks, and every shot is so beautiful! Nature is truly magical. Arrive one hour before sunset for the most beautiful light, so remember to bring your camera! Return trip - It takes about 3 hours to drive from the Twelve Apostles back to Melbourne. Because we signed up for a small one-day tour with about 10 to 12 people, we were able to see basically every attraction, and there weren't many people, so it wasn't troublesome to visit! ---Tips1. Transportation: For those who have not been here before, it is recommended to sign up for a one-day or half-day tour. It is very convenient and worry-free. Just follow the driver, and you won’t be wandering around aimlessly~ 2. Outfit: The seaside is windy, so it is recommended to wear a windproof jacket and comfortable shoes 3. The Great Ocean Road is hands down one of the most beautiful coastal drives in the world. Stretching along Victoria’s coastline, it offers stunning ocean views, winding roads, and incredible natural landmarks. We had a 2 days trip along the Great Ocean Road — The first day we had brunch at Torquay, watched surfers at Bells Beach and stopped for the night in Apollo Bay. On the next morning, we head straight to Twelve Apostles after breakfast and drive back to Torquay with the most breathtaking view. From Torquay to the famous Twelve Apostles, every stop along the way is a chance to take in Australia’s raw beauty.
