#August2025 Crowne Plaza Dalian Sports Center This is a chain hotel in Dalian, located adjacent to a large sports center. While a bit out of the city center, it's new and the rooms are spacious and comfortable, with ample space for a desk, sofa, and spacious bathroom. All modern amenities are included, and the mattresses are comfortable and the pillows are fluffy, ensuring a good night's sleep. A standard double room on weekdays costs around NT$2,500, excluding breakfast. The room is quite spacious, measuring 57 square meters, and the facilities are quite up-to-date. However, the service is a bit lacking, and some details could be improved.

Dalian Furama Hotel, part of the Japanese Okura Group, is one of the earliest luxury hotels in Dalian. While it carries a sense of age, the meticulous maintenance typical of Japanese hotels ensures it remains clean and comfortable, making it feel far from being an outdated establishment. Located on the middle section of Renmin Road in Dalian, Furama Hotel is situated between the branded stores of Times Square and the Shangri-La Hotel. Unlike other hotels, guests here can communicate in Japanese and even hail taxis using the language, making it an ideal choice for Japanese business travelers. The deluxe double rooms are spacious at 45 square meters, offering a comfortable stay with decent views from higher floors. The weekday rate for a double room without breakfast is approximately NT$2,300, while the rate including breakfast is around NT$3,000.

Dongguanzi, the liveliest shopping and food street in Dalian, is a popular spot for both locals and tourists! Especially on weekends, it’s packed with people with barely any space to step. The sun was scorching, so I decided to walk around the city. I had originally planned to visit Pai Hai Zhi Yun Park, but after reaching the north entrance, I realized the so-called Undersea Grand Canyon was just a wall of various underwater creatures adorning the driveway. It wasn't really a "canyon" at all! And the main attraction required a whopping 4.5 kilometers! I gave up immediately! Instead, I headed to Venice Street, a small canal resembling Venice, complete with gondolas and European architecture. It wasn't a large area, so I finished it in no time. Afterward, I took a taxi to Dalian Yuan Dian. The Darini City Hall was closed for renovations. This building faced the Russian Style Street, which wasn't long, about 500 meters! After our visit, we took the tram and were lucky enough to get on an old green tram with a wooden interior. Then, we took the tram to the Japanese-style buildings on Dongguan Street to continue our shopping.

Attracted by its title as the "Northern Hong Kong," I was initially impressed by its orderly and spacious roads and praised its people for their disciplined queuing habits! I visited places like the Central Square Morning Market, Central Square, Xinghai Square, the best viewing platform for Xinghai Bay Bridge, and Heishijiao Park... but I found the city somewhat ordinary. Perhaps it's because, as someone from an island, I'm no longer easily moved by such scenery. Instead, I felt that Dalian lacks its own unique character.

The room experience was slightly more comfortable than the Castle Hotel, and the large floor-to-ceiling windows offered even better views. 📍Location: The hotel is located in the heart of Xinghai Square, directly facing Xinghai Bay Bridge. You can go straight from the lobby down to the first floor to reach the seaside. However, there is a small downside to this location: it’s easy to get stuck in traffic when taking a taxi around Xinghai Square in the evening; in contrast, the Castle Hotel, just over a kilometer away, offers smoother taxi rides. 🧹Soundproofing/Cleanliness: The room cleanliness could be improved, with some incomplete cleaning on the desk, which is a bit disappointing. 🏘️Room Type/Layout: The room features a simple modern style, with the bathroom area separated by sliding doors and a reasonable layout. Some rooms offer sea views covering Xinghai Square, and like the Castle Hotel, you can see the brightly lit seaside amusement park at night. 🛌Amenities/Facilities: The room is equipped with a smart toilet and electric curtains, and the toiletries are from the Balmain brand, ensuring quality. However, the chair is somewhat worn. The public area design is impressive: the lobby is on the 2nd floor with a high ceiling and spacious feel, decorated with rich marine elements; the 4th floor has a small terrace outside the pool and restaurant, a great spot to watch the sunset, though the area is a bit small; the pool has excellent lighting and faces the sea directly. 💗Other Tips: The 2nd-floor lobby, 4th-floor terrace, and pool are all great spots to enjoy the sea view and sunset; the large floor-to-ceiling windows in the rooms offer wide views, perfect for admiring Xinghai Bay Bridge and Xinghai Square; be aware that the area around Xinghai Square tends to be congested in the evening, so plan your trips in advance. Summary: Hyatt Regency Dalian, with its prime location in Xinghai Square and excellent sea views, is a top choice for scenic views, especially the morning glow and sunset. The rooms are comfortable, and the public areas incorporate marine elements with distinctive features. Although there are some issues with cleanliness details, some outdated facilities, and evening taxi congestion, the overall experience is good. It has its own advantages compared to the Castle Hotel and is suitable for travelers seeking a sea view experience.

Way more locals than visitors when I went – felt like we were the only foreigners on the whole street! 😯 🧷 It’s compact but packed – just 200 meters long. You’ll find everything here: fresh seafood 🦐, noodles, dumplings 🥟, sweets, pastries (with lines of locals waiting!), fruits 🍓, berries, even flowers 💐.
