The Path to Daeseong Songaksan Trail
Songaksan in Jeju is a volcano located in the southwest of the island, offering a unique natural landscape of Jeju. Although it is relatively low at 104 meters, the view from the summit is very impressive. Songaksan has two craters, one of which faces the sea, allowing you to enjoy dramatic coastal scenery.
From the summit of Songaksan, you can see Gapado and Marado to the south and Hallasan to the north. On clear days, you can see all these islands and mountains, giving you a sense of liberation with the open view. Additionally, walking along the Songaksan Trail, you can experience the grandeur of nature with the sea and cliffs blending together.
This place is also a historical site where the Japanese army established a military base during the Jeju 4·3 Incident. As you walk along the trail, you can see the remains of coastal artillery and caves used by the Japanese army, making it a place where you can feel Jeju's painful history.
