Phu Pha Man National Park — The Natural Charm of Isan
🗺️ Location & Area
• Covers Na Nong Thum Subdistrict, Phu Pha Man District, and Chum Phae District, Khon Kaen Province, and extends into Phu Kradueng District, Loei Province.
• Covers an area of approximately 218,750 rai (350 sq. km).
🏞️ Nature & Landscape
• The park's iconic feature is the striking, steep limestone mountains resembling giant curtains (called Phu Pha Man).
• The area is rich in montane, mixed deciduous, and dry dipterocarp forests, with a diverse range of plant species, including padauk, saplings, wild orchids, and vetiver grass.
• It is home to wildlife such as barking deer, wild boar, monkeys, pangolins, and numerous bird species.
🧭 Highlights
• Bat Cave (Tham Klang Khao): A spot to watch bat colonies stretch for kilometers in the evening. It takes approximately 30–45 minutes to visit.
• Tat Yai Waterfall: The highest waterfall in the park, approximately 80 meters high, with stunning natural views.
• Tad Fa, Tad Hong, and Phlan Thong Waterfalls: Multiple levels offer walking and swimming opportunities during the rainy season. The surface is slippery, so be careful when walking down when wet.
• Lai Taeng Cave / Phaya Nakarat Cave / Pha Puang Cave / Phu Ta Lo Cave: Caves with ancient patterns, paintings, and historical remains beneath the mountain.
• Dinosaur Footprints: Late Triassic dinosaur tracks were discovered in 2023–2024 at Tat Yai Waterfall.

• Trekking & camping amidst nature and cool weather year-round.
• There are several convenient tent sites, park lodges, and homestays. There are also a la carte restaurants and restrooms on site.
• Evening and pre-twilight hours You can watch bats foraging in the cave around 6:00 PM, an experience that many people should not miss.
