So I was wondering if I should drop by some other cities along the way for the sake of exploration. At last I picked Aveiro, which has the reputation of being “Venice of the Portugal”. I personally found the name over the top, because it has only a medium sized canal, which is nothing comparable to Venice. But I did manage to take some photogenic photos, which made the trip somewhat worthy. But actual view-wise, if you’re after Venice-like canals, you might wanna reconsider your choices. You might wanna take the time to take a train to Sintra instead when you’re in Lisbon.

There is an artificial canal in the middle of the city, and boats sail on it. It’s a close place that you can visit on a day trip from Porto, so it’s good to stop by when you have time! I recommend buying one of Aveiro’s representative specialties, ovos moles (a dessert made with egg yolks) and eating it while sitting in front of the canal :)
