[Europe][France] Aigues-Mortes: A chill fortified medieval city
No filter! I visited the Salin d’Aigues-Mortes, which is approximately 20-minute walk from the city centre. The view is amazing and I enjoyed it. I enjoyed strolling the fortified city centre as well; I felt relaxed.

✨ Secret Place in the South of France | Aigues-Mortes Pink Salt Lake: Entering the Real Fairy Tale World of Girls’ Hearts✨
🌟 Quick overview of the highlights of the strategy
1. God's overturned pink palette: The high-salt lake water appears a dreamy pink and purple color due to algae and halophilic bacteria, and looks like an oil painting on a sunny day.
2. Surrounded by the medieval ancient city: the city walls and the Tower of Constance built by Louis IX in the 13th century, with a sense of history and romance.
3. A sightseeing train rides through the salt fields: After free parking, take the bright yellow train for a 1 hour and 15 minute immersive tour. The French explanation can also be made up by the appearance.
4. 🌅「Magic Hour」The light after 5pm! The salt crystals look like rose candy sprinkled with gold powder, the flamingo wings are coated with amber, and even the shadows have a pink bubble filter!
5.🔥「Hidden Easter Egg」Ecologists say: Algae will grow rapidly in July and August! The lake water directly switches to "hot rose red" mode, and the salt field instantly turns into a giant eyeshadow palette!
Basic Information
- Address: Route du Grau du Roi, 30220 Aigues-Mortes, France
- Opening hours: March 18th to November 11th every year (best in summer)
- Ticket price: 10.3 euros per person for adults, including the train fee.
- Transportation: It is recommended to drive yourself or charter a car! Public transportation in southern France is not convenient, and it takes about an hour to drive from Avignon/Montpellier.
📸 Photo shooting guide
1. Outfit suggestions: white or light-colored long skirt + straw hat, the salt lake background has a soft light filter, and the fairy style is fully brought out!
2. Best camera position:
The train stops along the way: the salt hill and the pink lake are in the same frame, the layering effect is amazing!
The platform at the top of the tower: overlooking the entire salt field, with a clear view of the pink and purple gradient under the Provence sunshine.
3. Golden Hour: Early morning or 1 hour before sunset, the light is soft and the pink is more intense!
💡 Tips for playing
1. Season selection: July is the best! Stop by the Provence lavender fields and Avignon Theatre Festival for a romantic experience.
2. Sun protection is essential: There is no shade in the salt fields, so sunglasses, sunscreen and parasols are essential!
3. Hidden Easter eggs: You can buy natural pink salt as souvenirs at the salt field store. It is very special for personal use or as a gift~
🚫 Tips for avoiding pitfalls
Don’t wear high heels: the ground in Yantian is rough, so comfortable flat shoes are the way to go!
Be cautious with drones: some areas are off-limits for flying, so check the regulations in advance to avoid fines.
🌈 Recommended itinerary

dieval town of Aiguës-Mortes in Southern France
🌟 Highlights:
The old town is a medieval fortress, similar to Carcassonne. It's not very large, approximately 500 meters from north to south, but the city walls are quite impressive. The streets are filled with shops and restaurants, making it a well-developed tourist destination. After seeing Carcassonne, this place is just a small fortress, but if you haven't been to Carcassonne, it's still worth a visit when you're in the South of France.
Nearby, there is also a pink salt lake, but unfortunately, I took the wrong direction. I should have walked along the left bank of the river, but I went to the right, and as a result, I saw a few white cranes but missed the pink lake. The sun is so strong, in August in the South of France, the sunlight is scorching, with temperatures reaching 33 degrees today. I didn't want to endure another hour of sun exposure, so I decided to give up. I'll keep it in mind for next time.

Towers and Walls of Aigues-Mortes 🏰
#2024wish
I just came back from a visit to the Towers and Walls of Aigues-Mortes – what an ancient treasure. 🏰🇫🇷 The ticket cost about €8, which is virtually nothing for such a trip into the past among these gothic marvels. 🎟️🕰️
You step in and feel like you are walking into the gates of a fairy tale fortress. The walls are so well-preserved; you can almost smell the medieval atmosphere. The views from the towers are great – miles of red rooftops against a royal blue skies. 🏞️🔭
The most unexpected moment was the Constance Tower, and it is absolutely worth climbing for a bird’s eye view of Aigues-Mortes and its surrounding salt flats. And for those interested in history, the Church of Notre-Dame-des Sablons nearby is a must visit. ⛪️🔍
I spent the whole day strolling through cobblestone olden streets, cozying up in cute cafes – total medieval charm! ✨🍃 #AiguesMortesAdventures #MedievalMarvels #TravelBackInTime
