#folkactivities During my recent trip to Sweden, I had the chance to visit a traditional fair, and it was such a unique and delightful experience! 🇸🇪🎡 The fair was held in a charming small town near Uppsala, surrounded by beautiful countryside. The atmosphere was vibrant, with locals dressed in traditional Swedish clothing, stalls full of handmade crafts, and the smell of delicious food wafting through the air. There was no entrance fee, making it easy to wander in and out, enjoying the festivities at your own pace. One of the highlights for me was watching the folk dances. The dancers, in their colorful costumes, moved so gracefully, and the music played by the live folk band added a magical touch to the whole scene. 🎻 I also tried some classic Swedish foods like herring, freshly baked cinnamon buns, and, of course, a taste of their famous lingonberry jam. The fair was a feast for the senses—there were so many different flavors, sounds, and sights to take in. In addition to the food and music, there were plenty of games and activities for all ages. During my recent visit to Stockholm, I had the pleasure of exploring what’s often called the world’s longest art gallery – the Stockholm Metro. With over 90 of the 100 stations adorned with art installations, murals, sculptures, and imaginative lighting, the metro is more than just a means of transport – it’s a cultural experience in itself. Each station offered its own unique atmosphere and artistic flair, turning my metro ride into a museum crawl beneath the city. T-Centralen As the main hub of the metro system, T-Centralen was a fitting place to begin. The station’s cool blue-and-white floral motifs painted on exposed bedrock created a calm, almost meditative ambiance despite the constant flow of commuters. Stadion This station is a burst of color and positivity. Stadion is famous for its iconic rainbow arch, painted across the curved ceiling – a tribute to love, diversity, and inclusion. The vibrant colors against the natural rock made the whole platform feel open and joyful, and it’s easy to see why this station is a favorite for photos. Tekniska Högskolan This station is a tribute to science and technology, perfectly fitting for its location near the Royal Institute of Technology. Futuristic geometric installations and planet-inspired sculptures give it an intellectual, avant-garde edge. Solna Centrum One of the most dramatic and politically charged stations I visited. The blood-red ceiling contrasted with the green forest mural below, symbolizing deforestation and urbanization. Hallonbergen This station offered a completely different vibe – whimsical and childlike. The walls are covered with what looks like children’s drawings, and they actually are – created with the help of local children in collaboration with the artists. Näckrosen A lesser-known gem, Näckrosen surprised me with its quiet, eerie, dreamlike atmosphere. There’s a strong sense of depth and reflection here, with subdued lighting and abstract pieces that make the underground space feel almost otherworldly. Introducing Stockholm Central Station, the station you arrive at when heading to Stockholm from Sweden's airport (Arlanda Airport) 🚝 I went there during Christmas time, so the station was decorated with illuminations and stalls like a Christmas market! It's a very large station that many people use, but it's designed to make good use of the space, so it doesn't feel crowded or cramped ♪ Central Station is located in a convenient location for traveling by train to the suburbs of Stockholm, as well as to the city. #getgoing2025 #sweden Spending a day in the Swedish forest is an experience you won’t forget. From the fresh air to the tranquility, it’s a natural escape that everyone should try. During my visit, I spent the day picking wild blueberries and fishing in the serene lakes, and it was pure magic. 🍃 The forest was filled with endless rows of wild blueberries, waiting to be plucked. There’s something so satisfying about picking your own fruit, and the sweet, tangy taste of these wild berries is beyond compare. After a peaceful morning picking blueberries, we made a delicious homemade blueberry jam, and the flavors were unbeatable. 🫐✨ Later, we cast our fishing lines into the calm lake. Surrounded by tall trees and the sounds of nature, fishing was a moment of peace and reflection. The whole day felt like a perfect balance of nature and adventure. Sweden’s forests are beautiful, peaceful, and full of opportunities for outdoor activities like berry picking and fishing. If you’ve never experienced it, I highly recommend it. You’ll not only get to enjoy fresh, wild blueberries but also connect with nature in a way that leaves you feeling refreshed and grounded. 🌲
