Late November is a great time to plan a one-day trip to Gexianshan. I drove for three hours and arrived around 11:30, just in time for lunch. The cable car is located at the far end of the street. The round-trip cable car ticket costs ¥130 per person, which is a bit expensive. If you’re just here for tourism, it’s still better to take the cable car. After getting off, there’s about a 20-minute walk to the P10 spot. Coming down, my legs felt a bit tired, so hiking is only suitable for mountain lovers and those with specific goals. There aren’t many people here in the morning. If you’re coming to play games to earn silver tickets or watch performances, it’s better to come after 2 PM. A quick complaint: the performances are very short. To see every show, you have to keep moving between places—sometimes at the Ancestral Hall Square, sometimes at the Excellent Drama Theater, and sometimes at the Town Culture Museum. Although the village isn’t big, if you don’t plan your time well, you’ll just miss the shows. (From experience, around 6 PM, just wait on the steps of Zhongmiao Pavilion without moving. This is the main venue for later performances. You have to give something up to gain something. I sat there for two hours with continuous shows 😂.) The Thousand Lantern Parade also starts here. Follow the parade to Xingchen Square for the final performance. Sitting in the front row offers a better view of the shows, while sitting in the back row is better for the final fireworks and releasing sky lanterns, which makes for more impressive photos and a more thrilling experience. It depends on your preference (putting aside technical issues). When I was planning, I saw someone say there are no sightseeing buses after 9 PM and that everyone has to hike back. Luckily, there are still buses to take you back, and there were quite a few buses lined up without waiting (not sure about usual conditions; I left around 9:20 PM yesterday). Food prices in the scenic area are a bit higher than outside but not outrageously so—still acceptable. Compared to Fantawild, it’s more affordable (not trying to diss). The newly opened Xian Village Monopoly game is very popular, with mahjong, guessing games, and more. There’s only one mahjong table, and I didn’t understand the rules of the other games because it was too crowded and everyone was gathered around, making it hard to see anything. The Xian Village parade goes from the Town Culture Museum to Zhongmiao Pavilion. NPCs have a show at the start and give out silver tickets 💰. They also hand out tickets along the parade route. I managed to grab one. Parking fees apply, but they’re not much. I paid ¥20 for parking from 11:20 AM to 9:30 PM.
