Chinatown crowded at night
Chinatown is so crowded at night. There is a food fair at Chinatown where visitors can buy all kinds of Lunar new year food. I was finding my way out in Chinatown MRT station, just following the crowd and the night market is just outside the exit.
There are different shops and restaurants along the streets, I walked towards Maxwell station (one stop away from Chinatown station) and reached the gorgeous temple. Opposite the temple is the Maxwell foodcourt. If you find the restaurants along the street too expensive, visit Maxwell foodcourt instead. Lots of local food, drinks and dessert.

Must Visit Fatty Ox HK Kitchen
I love our hawker culture and I love our hawker food. It is cheap, it is boisterous and lively and sometimes the hawkers themselves are the nicest and warmest people you have ever met. That's why I am always at the hawker centre haunting for good food. I chanced upon Fatty Ox HK kitchen on the second floor of Chinatown complex hawker centre.
It is amazing to know how a small food stall could produce so many kinds of food. Fatty Ox is famous for their beef brisket noodles which gets sold out before noon time. I was lucky to get my hand on this noodle dishe and it was the best. The beef brisket was tender and soft to chew, noodles was springy and good. Fatty Ox also sells roast duck, char siew wanton noodles, soy sauce chicken and many more. Do prepared to queue as hungry diners waits eagerly for their yummy food by fatty Ox.

Old School 1950s Coffee
On the second floor of Chinatown complex food centre, you will be overwhelmed by the number of food stalls and drink stalls available there. With so many choices, it's hard to decide what you want to eat or drink. One particular stall stood out with its long queue and I realised this stall's menu is so basic, selling only old school breakfast like toast, eggs and coffee or tea.
The stall's name is called The 1950s coffee. There, you see an elderly man brewing your coffee and tea. I ordered a cup of kopi Gao (thick coffee) and teh (milk tea). The coffee was strong and robust while the tea was milky and fragrant. A cup of drink only cost $1.20, which was relatively cheap. I love the old school vibe and how the coffee/tea was brewed in a traditional way. We need more of this as most coffee nowadays are brewed by machines instead, losing the human touch. Give this old school place a try today.

Fabulous & Colourful Chinatown
Everyone would think Chinatown to be old and dirty or a place where only old people visits or heads down to buy things. Rarely, anyone would think Chinatown as fabulous or even colourful but I beg to differ. Chinatown in Singapore is so rich in culture and every corner is a surprise. The chinatown complex in Singapore consists of a market at the basement, shopping stores at the first floor, and a food center at the second floor. Shops on the first floor, sells many nice colourful apparels. One can buy the traditional cheong sums, which shows off your womanly figure. There are also shops selling traditional Chinese figurines and art and crafts. Even the walls of the complex are so beautiful as there are wall murals for you to appreciate. Chinatown is not just forb the old but also for the young to appreciate.

Sri Mariamman Temple
#shioksightseeing
An interesting journey with shioksightseeing along the Sri Mariamman Temple located in Chinatown. A Hindu temple located close to the MRT station.
This temple is required to take off your shoes and then put them on the shoe rack provided. This temple is free of charge, and it is highly recommended not to make a fuss inside the temple, because there are often celebrations inside
This temple complex consists of the main temple and is surrounded by buildings that double as the boundaries of the complex. There is no storage here, so keep your belongings safe, because this temple is quite crowded with tourists.

Exploring the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple in Singapore’s Chinatown was truly rewarding. The temple's beautiful architecture, detailed design, and tranquil environment made the visit special. The grand hall with its golden Buddha statues felt peaceful, while the upstairs museum, featuring Buddhist relics, and the rooftop garden with a large prayer wheel, added to the experience. It's an ideal place for reflection and understanding Buddhist traditions.

Breakfast Marathon @ Breakfast is Ready~~.
Chinatown in Singapore is definitely a prime battleground for breakfast.
One moment you're at the popular 'Nanyang Old Coffee' shop, and the next you're stepping into a Taiwanese breakfast joint.
When the dish was first served, all I could see was the overflowing bowl of Yi Mian noodles.
Honestly, I underestimated it.
Until I fished out slices of meat, shrimp, crab sticks, clams, and lettuce from the pot, and took a sip of the soup.
Hmm! The authenticity of this pot of braised Yi Mian is really high~ I approve!!

Where it all began
#singaporetrip
The present Chinatown in Singapore is the cradle of early Singapore's migrant chinese population. It was the main area where bullock cart bearing Chinese labour landed after an arduous crossing to Nanyang via Singapore. That's the historical significance of it.
Today, Chinatown is amongst the most vibrant spots in Singapore city that travellers, locals, and tourists often visit for a variety of reasons. They offer an array of colourful and exciting activities, as well as exuberant night markets that are captivating and worth exploring. The china town food street is a must on most tourists list. The very famous and spectacular tooth relic temple is also in this vicinity. #chinatown #singapore #cultura #colorful #temple

Chinatown Heritage
If you’re visiting Singapore, don’t miss visiting Chinatown, a popular place to check out the diverse culture of Singapore.
Here you can find both the Chinese and Indian Temples within the walking proximity. And there are load of delicious local food to try at the Chinatown Market or Maxwell Market.
Explore the small streets and look out for the murals which depicts the life in the past too. On occasion like CNY, the Main Street will be closed to vehicles and you’ll see stalls on both sides of the roads selling the festive goodies and decorations

#singaporetrip Singapore Chinatown Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and Museum
Located in the historic district of Chinatown, the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple & Museum’s richly designed interiors and comprehensive exhibits on Buddhist art and history tell stories of culture over thousands of years old. Built in 2007, the temple gets its name from what the Buddhists regard as the left canine tooth of Buddha, which has been recovered from his funeral pyre in Kushinagar, India and displayed on the temple’s grounds.
This Tang-styled Chinese Buddhist temple was conceptualised and designed by the temple’s Chief Abbot Venerable Shi Fa Zhao, with the help of local and overseas consultants. It costs S$75 million to set up, and is based on various elements of Tang Dynasty architecture. The building’s design was inspired by the Buddhist Mandala, a symbol of Buddhist culture that represents the universe.
The Buddhist Culture Museum on the third floor holds an array of revered artefacts of the Buddha, such as bone and tongue relics, and the Sacred Light Hall on the fourth floor contains the temple’s centrepiece.
The Buddha Tooth Relic is housed in a giant stupa weighing a whopping 3,500 kilograms and made from 320 kilograms of gold, of which 234 kilograms were donated by devotees. Only monks are allowed into the relic chamber, but visitors will be able to see the tooth relic from the public viewing area.
Other highlights include the Eminent Sangha Museum, a theatre that holds cultural performances, talks and film screenings. If you’re looking for a little quiet contemplation amid Chinatown’s hubbub, the roof garden, with its pagoda and Buddha prayer wheel, offers a tranquil hideaway.
Shakyamuni Buddha was believed to have gained insight into the true nature of being, and perfected the qualities of wisdom and compassion over 2,500 years ago. Today, the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple carries on the legacy of his teachings through the ‘Discovering Buddhism’ workshop. Travellers can gain more insight into Buddhism at this interactive workshop led by the temple’s resident venerables.

#2024wish
My 2024 travel wish is to visit Guangzhou. I would like to try out their local food and visit their Yue xiu park for a walk there. I also would like to visit their Beijing street shopping street and other wholesale market there too.
A walk down to Chinatown Street, you would be able to find many authentic Chinese province restaurants. From the spicy ma la steamboat to the yummy beef and mutton soup. To the famous fish dishes. You can find almost all kinds of Chinese food there served by the various restaurants there. During weekends the place would be crowded there .
Dying Tradition - Handmade Sak Kei Ma
Anything that has been made and poured with love taste especially good. There is only one food stall in the whole of Singapore that sells hand made Sak kei ma and it is a dying trade because no ones uses hand made method for these traditional snacks anymore. This last standing stall is found in Chinatown food complex on the second floor and the stall's name is called Pan Ji Cooked food. If you are wondering what is sak kei ma, it is a like a honeycomb biscuit made from fried dough held together by sweet syrup pressed together. Crunchy and sweet, yums! The stall also sells other traditional Chinese pastries and it is single managed by this old uncle. Please help to support local before the tradition dies.
