This is an annex of Nihachi Soba Hirai, a delicious soba restaurant in Chichibu, and it opened in 2019. I've been to Hirai several times, and I've never forgotten how delicious the fresh soba was, even if I had to wait in line to eat it. This time, I was sightseeing around Chichibu Station, so I walked about 10 minutes to Hirai Hanare. The restaurant was so homely that I was surprised and asked myself, "Is this really the place?" I hadn't made a reservation, so I told them I'd try again next time if I couldn't get in, but they were happy to let me in even though they seemed to be fully booked. I'm grateful. After that, it seemed like they only took reservations. It was a hot day, so the cold soba tea I was given at the beginning was delicious. I had a reservation for the hand-ground soba, so I had mori soba (¥1,100). Hirai's soba is shiny, fresh, and chewy. It's delicious even without the broth. But the slightly sweet soup is so delicious that you'll want to drink it all. If you're a hungry woman, you can easily get a large serving. Kinpira is served as a side dish.
