This is a nice weekend escape from Beijing - around 2hr15 ride on the fast speed train. The library and church are actually part of the Aranya resort and is located on the beach front of the resort. You can chose to stay in the resort or can also stay outside and pay only to enter the library area . I stayed outside and payed an entrance fee. However I would really recommend booking a room and staying in Aranya. You can’t really swim in the sea but the resort seems to have its own pool, restaurant and even a livehouse. An amazing getaway from Beijing. I try to go once a year to the beach nearest to the capital and I love to go in may before the crowds start coming. The weather is not that warm in may but I just love to feel the sand under my feet. This time we drove a car to Aranya. It took about 3 hours each way. As an alternative you can take a train from Beijing to Beidaihe or Qinhuangdao train station, they are not so far apart and from the station it’s very easy to take a taxi or DiDi. Aranya is a closed community with hotels, apartments, restaurants, shops, cinema and you need to live in one of the hotels or go to an event to be able to get access to enter. Once inside it is so amazing nice. The beach stretch is quite long and you can find a church, library and bars along the beach. As we entered we had lunch at HE Kitchen before heading to the beach. In the evening we had shake shack however there are multiple options for food if you want to explore. I actually rented my dream house Celebrating Labor Day early, I took my family and our little dog to Beidaihe for fun. We traveled all the way from Jinmeng Bay to Aranya, and the homestay we booked was absolutely amazing! Sharing it with everyone right away. This is the closest sea to Beijing. Whenever it's a holiday or weekend and you feel like seeing the ocean, you can just go—it's about 280 kilometers away, roughly a 3-hour drive. The homestay is just across the road from Aranya and Alcadia, about 2-3 kilometers by car (since you need to make a U-turn). If you want to visit a free public beach, you can go to Golden Coast, which is about 15 minutes away. The neighborhood is called Qinhuangdao Changli County Beidaihe Peacock City Senyu Hai (Qingya Homestay). It generally consists of townhouses or courtyard homes, perfect for families traveling together. Compared to Aranya, it's much quieter, with fewer people, making it ideal for walking dogs... If it's the off-season, it’s like having the whole place to yourselves. The entire villa has three floors, with yards in both the front and back. The front yard has a swing, while the backyard is great for barbecuing. There’s also a large rooftop terrace, perfect for enjoying a drink and stargazing at night... The layout of the house I rented is great: the first floor is for entertainment, with a living room, dining area, and mahjong table; the second and third floors are for sleeping. The second floor has two bedrooms with three beds, each with its own bathroom, while the third floor has one bedroom with two beds and a bathroom. If everyone sleeps comfortably, it can accommodate 8 people, but if you squeeze in or add beds, it could easily fit 10. The facilities inside are quite new: a double-door Xinfei refrigerator, Midea air conditioners, a Wanhe big-screen TV, mahjong table, barbecue grill, rice cooker, steamer, electric kettle, and dishes—everything you need. It feels like you don’t have to bring anything; just go! Beidaihe gets quite cold at night, but the bedroom air conditioners have a no-wind heating mode, which is silent and heats up quickly. The owner even prepared disposable toilet seat covers in advance—so thoughtful! There are restaurants and supermarkets right at the neighborhood entrance, offering barbecue, seafood, breakfast, and more. Most importantly! You can order delivery straight to your door, haha~ You can totally order food and eat in the yard. I even had groceries delivered from the supermarket—after all, the whole point of a vacation is to relax and take it easy. If you go to Aranya to play, you can eat at the owner’s canteen, which has a wide variety of options. If you want to shop, you can get everything done in Aranya.

During low tide, the beach was so packed with crab hunters that the poor creatures were nearly extinct - forget about finding space to collect seashells! - Aranya Community: The supposed paradise for artsy souls, with its Sea Library and chapel facing the ocean - sounded dreamy. Reality? Over an hour just to enter, then nightmare queues for photos. Waited 30+ minutes for a library shot only to be rushed by impatient crowds behind me. The artistic vibe was completely ruined by hordes of tourists elbowing through exhibitions. - Xianluo Island: Went for the sea-crossing cable car, dreaming of leisurely gliding over azure waters. Joke's on me - the queue stretched beyond horizon. After 3 hours in scorching heat (nearly fainted), the ride's beauty was lost on my exhausted self. The island? More crowded than dumplings in boiling water - activities like sea bungee or yachting consumed entire days in queues. 🍱 Food Section - Seafood: Can't miss the live crabs, mantis shrimp and scallops! Spicy clams with their fragrant broth and plump meat were divine; steamed crabs bursting with rich roe - pure bliss. But peak season prices doubled normal rates - a few dishes could bankrupt you. Terrible value. - Boluo Leaf Cakes: Local specialty with unique herbal aroma from the leaves. The glutinous wrapper and savory filling created perfect texture harmony. But popular shops had 40+ minute waits - stomachs growled in protest. - Sitiao Baozi: Legendary thin-skinned buns gushing with savory broth and juicy filling - absolutely lived up to reputation. But finding seating during rush hour? Mission impossible. Ended up eating in some alley corner - major vibe killer. 💔 Qinhuangdao in July-August: beautiful but brutal. At the night time , the sea view was amazing, but its not pretty clean as usual when we was there! Night markets, street foods was good. However the Changli wine was amazing. its very cheap around 60rmb one bottle of wine. The white one tastes good. If you want to taste the good wine choose the white sweet one. That wine is must - try listed #1.
