The weather in Bomi is cloudy to overcast with occasional light rain, with a temperature of 13-26°C and an altitude of 3,820 meters, National Highway 318.
The hotel we stayed in last night was a young local Tibetan chain brand hotel "Pingcuo Kangsang" (Tibetan means warm house). As soon as we arrived at the hotel, we received enthusiastic and considerate service from the staff, which made us feel tired from the journey. As an ordinary traveler, I really feel "at home".
Today we drove from Bomi to Basu. There are three construction sites on the 3865-3842 km section of National Highway 318 (Bomi boundary), and half of them are alternately open to traffic. On the way, our car was sandwiched in the military vehicle column and enjoyed the right of way. Even so, it was blocked for about half an hour.
Visit Midui Glacier in the morning (Figure 1).
Midui Glacier is located in Yupu Township, Bomi County. The entrance of the scenic spot is on the side of National Highway 318, which is convenient to enter. After buying a ticket, you can take a scenic bus for nearly 10 minutes and then walk 1,720 meters. The initial section has a long uphill, and the middle and later sections need to climb 282 stone steps to reach the viewing platform at the deepest part of the scenic spot (Figure 2, 3,820 meters above sea level).
Midui Glacier is a typical representative of marine glaciers in southeastern Tibet. The main peak of the glacier is 6,800 meters above sea level, and the snow line is only 4,600 meters above sea level, and it shines all year round (Figure 3). Affected by the climate of the eastern section of the Himalayas, although the glacier is located at 29° north latitude, the temperature at the end of the glacier is lower than that of the glacier in Bogda Mountain at 44° north latitude, which is a special phenomenon in modern glaciers in China (Figure 4). There are hundreds of meters long ice tongues (Figure 5).
Here, glaciers, lakes, farmland, pastures, villages, forests, etc. are integrated, and it is a model of harmonious coexistence between man and nature. The mixed coniferous and broad-leaved forest at the foot of the glacier has shown colorful autumn colors (Figure 6),
In the afternoon, continue east along National Highway 318 and return to Chamdo. There is no road construction in the Chamdo-Basu section, and the road conditions are good.
I want to go to Laigu Glacier to take a look. Due to the bad weather and tight time, I plan to go tomorrow and walk around Ranwu Lake by the way (Figure 7).
Ranwu Lake is not hidden in the deep mountains and is not easy to reach, but it stretches along the side of National Highway 318 and extends to the foot of Laigu Glacier. It is fully open and free of charge.
Ranwu Lake was formed more than 200 years ago. A landslide occurred in the downstream area of Ranwu Lake today. The huge collapsed stone dam blocked the Parlung Zangbo and formed a huge plateau barrier lake, which is today's Ranwu Lake (Figure 8).
There are green grasslands and green crops by the lake; there are vast forests on the hillside by the lake, and there are many rocks and small islands dotted around the lake (Figure 9). The lake water here should be blue or green. Due to the previous rainy season, there was more silt brought down from the mountain. The two lakes today are yellow and the viewing is not good.
Stay in the nearby Ranwu Town (altitude 3890 meters) tonight, the weather tomorrow is to be observed, and strive to complete the tour of Laigu Glacier.

The weather has been exceptionally good recently. I thought it would rain, but unexpectedly, the sun came out. Entering Tibet is indeed different, hahaha.
Ranwu Lake was not as good as I imagined. On the way to Ranwu Lake, we encountered another lake, but the water was smelly, so I didn't feel like taking pictures, and it wasn't very pretty. I pinned my hopes on Ranwu Lake, but when we got there, it wasn't as beautiful as the previous lake. I was a bit disappointed, so I just took a few casual photos and headed to the glacier. We made some food on the way and then went up the mountain.
Midui Glacier requires a ticket costing 87 yuan, and you need to take a sightseeing bus for 17 yuan, which only goes halfway. After getting off, you have two choices: ride a horse for 100 yuan or walk for two hours round trip. We chose to ride horses. The horses were a bit smelly, but if you like horse riding, you can give it a try. It wasn't very photogenic, but it was much easier. When we saw the glacier, we felt it was all worth it. We originally wanted to see the golden mountain at sunrise, but it required a long wait, so we didn't wait. After taking some photos and checking in, we came down. By the way, the toilets are locked after hours, so try to use the toilets in the mountains. We rode horses back and forth.

🌅 On the way, there was a heavy rain, and the road was flooded. Fortunately, our car is a four-wheel drive, so we easily crossed the water. Those on motorcycles were in trouble, their wheels stuck in the mud, and several motorcyclists had to help each other push their bikes to get out🚵
🏞 We passed a small village and encountered some children chasing us for money. A friend wanted to give them 200, but our local guide stopped him in time, saying that giving them some food would be enough. In the end, we gave them some egg yolk pies, bread, and fruits, and they stopped following us🥯
🚗 We parked our car on a meadow to take photos. There were many cows grazing on the grass. I draped a red scarf over myself to take beautiful photos but was afraid the cows might come and butt me. While I was nervously posing, two 👮 came and reminded us that this is a military area and we couldn't stay, so we left quickly. It was the first time I saw the soldiers guarding our borders, and I really admire them. They work so hard🙏

Midui Glacier is located in Yupu Township, Bomi County, Nyingchi Prefecture, Tibet. It is at the junction of the Nyenchen Tanglha Mountains and the Boshula Range in southeastern Tibet, which is also a distribution area for China's large monsoon maritime glaciers. The glacier is covered with snow all year round, and the snow is white, but the mixed forest of coniferous and broad-leaved trees below the glacier remains green throughout the year, presenting a picturesque and colorful scenery. Therefore, it was rated as one of the 'Six Most Beautiful Glaciers in China' by National Geographic Magazine.
Midui Glacier is probably the closest glacier to National Highway 318. The entrance to Midui Glacier is set right beside National Highway 318, making it very convenient to access. Visitors can take a sightseeing bus from the entrance to Midui Village within 10 minutes, and then hike or ride a horse to the viewing platform.

You may have seen hundred-year-old peach blossoms, and perhaps even three-hundred-year-old peach blossoms, but you certainly haven't seen a five-hundred-year-old peach tree. When you stroll through the beautiful scenery of peach blossoms in Nyingchi, breathing in the earthy aroma and the fragrance of peach blossoms, you'll surely wish to live another five hundred years.
The most beautiful part of Tibet is Nyingchi, and the most beautiful time in Nyingchi is April. When the peach blossoms bloom all over the mountains and valleys along National Highway 318 extending to the Yarlung Tsangpo River Gorge, both tourists and photography enthusiasts will focus their attention here, forgetting the pain of altitude sickness, just for the once-in-five-hundred-years charm of the peach blossoms.
Starting from Chengdu in mid to late March, travel along the most beautiful national highway G318, traversing thousands of miles and navigating the winding roads of Bangda's seventy-two bends, the first place to see the peach blossoms in Nyingchi is Bomi. Bomi Peach Blossom Valley is located about 10 kilometers west of Bomi County town, in the valley of the Potoi Tsangpo River. Coming from Nyingchi, you will first reach Peach Blossom Valley before arriving at Zhamu Town in Bomi County. On the left side of National Highway 318, near the Kada Bridge (where the Potoi Tsangpo River joins the Parlung Tsangpo River), there are clear signs for Peach Blossom Valley, as well as the former residence of the Tibetan King Nyatri Tsenpo and a promotional sign for the Potoi Hydropower Station. As you go further in, you will see more ancient peach trees, some with a diameter of up to 1 meter. These peach trees are not artificially planted; they are all wild. For hundreds of years, the local Tibetan people have never destroyed or cut them down, which is closely related to the Tibetan people's love for all living things. Late March is the peak blooming season for peach blossoms in Bomi, stretching over 20 kilometers, incredibly beautiful.
As soon as you turn into Peach Blossom Valley, you will see peach blossoms on both sides of the road. On one side of the road are villages and houses, while on the other side is the river valley with some farmland. There are also villages on the opposite bank of the Potoi Tsangpo River, similarly surrounded by peach blossoms. In the distance, the snow-capped peaks glisten.
The main spots to see peach blossoms in Bomi Peach Blossom Valley are connected by several villages and towns. Recommended route: Start from Bomi Town to Runa Village - Qingduo Town - Yuxu Township / Xumu Township.
Galong Village: It is 18 kilometers from Bomi to Galong Village. The so-called Galong Lake is just a river. The best peach blossoms in Galong Village are fenced off by local villagers who charge an entrance fee of 5 yuan per person. You can park freely by the roadside, but in some places, villagers may charge a parking fee of 5 yuan.
Runa Village: It is 15 kilometers from Galong Village to Runa Village. After turning north from National Highway 318, the scenery is beautiful all the way. The villages on both sides of the river are full of peach blossoms, and they are very lush. The scenery in Runa Village is slightly more complex.
Liekang Village / Bakang Village: You can reach Bakang Village through Liekang Village. Bakang Village is located halfway up the mountain, and you need to open two iron gates yourself to reach the last mountain household. You can climb to higher slopes to take aerial shots of the peach blossoms.
Qingduo Town: It is 43 kilometers from Bomi County to Qingduo Town. At the end of Qingduo Town, you can climb to higher slopes to photograph the peach blossoms and Qingduo Temple.
Xumu Township: It is 69 kilometers from Bomi County to Yuxu (Xumu) Township. To get to Xumu Township, you need to pass through Runa Village and Qingduo Town. The road from Qingduo Town to Xumu Township is a dirt road and slightly difficult to travel. After passing the frozen oil village of the second prison and crossing the mountain to Baiyu Village, the scenery is quite beautiful. Xumu Township and Yuren Township have now merged into Yuxu Township, so take note. The terrain along the way to Xumu is different from the surroundings of Bomi County, with beautiful snow-capped mountains worth photographing. The peach blossoms in Xumu Township generally bloom about 5 days later than those in places like Galong.
In Peach Blossom Valley, winding paths rise and fall, twisting and turning. Tourists wander among the beautiful peach blossoms along the roadside. Walking under the trees, petals fall like snow or cherry blossoms. Along the roadside, cameras capture these beautiful moments.

1. Specific location of Peach Blossom Valley: 10 kilometers from Bomi County town along National Highway G318, turn right after crossing the Yajiang Bridge, there are road signs. Follow the valley inward to see the peach blossoms you desire.

I thought the peach blossoms in Linzhi were beautiful until I visited the ones in Bomi

Bomi Peach Blossom Valley🌸 follows the largest tributary of the Parlung Tsangpo River, the Boidoi Tsangpo, heading north all the way to Zepu Village at the northernmost 90 kilometers. Along the clear turquoise riverbanks, the further north you go, the denser the peach blossoms become, especially from Linqiong Village to Yuxu Township. Both sides are dense peach forests, with thick peach trees forming a pale pink cloud.

Danka Village
Often the first village before entering the Peach Blossom Valley, located on the south bank of the Parlung Tsangpo, yet often overlooked by tourists due to a bridge. Here, the river, peach blossoms, snow mountains, cattle and horses, villages, and grasslands are integrated harmoniously, offering a different view at every step. The village charges an entrance fee of 10 yuan per person, which is completely worth it compared to those well-known peach villages. More houses are on the left side of the village, while the right side has more peach blossoms, offering a comfortable and pleasant stroll for visitors.
Linqiong Village
Situated between Qiongduo Town and Yuxu Township, the dense peach forest on the south side of the village is stunning from afar. The density here is higher than other places, as seen from the drone footage, covering the entire river beach with full white and pink. The road passes through the village, with lush peach blossoms on both sides, making one feel as if they are in a peach blossom utopia. The Yusha Village across the river on the hillside also seems to be draped in colorful clouds, offering a breathtaking view across the river. In addition, the Haiding Village to the south and north of Yuxu Township and the Reba Village are dense with wild peach forests, which are very impressive.
Qiongduo Town
The four villages along the north side of the river, Liekang Village—Bakang Village—Xiamuka—Yusar, are staggered in height, one after another, offering a feast for the eyes. The four villages are very close to each other and seamlessly connected. As a midway point, Qiongduo Town has relatively convenient accommodations and dining. For a short trip to Bomi Peach Blossom Valley, you can return from here, take a mid-line to Yuxu Township, or a long line to Zepu Village for a trek to the Zepu Glacier.

❗️❗️❗️Medog currently has a double-entry single-exit system
That is, even-numbered days are for entering Medog, and odd-numbered days are for leaving Medog (the last time to enter Medog through Galongla Tunnel is 13:30, and the latest time to leave Medog town is 11:00, these two times are very important)

1️⃣Gawalong Snow World:
A scenic spot before entering the Galongla Tunnel, where the snow is thick, suitable for snowball fights, and you can also ride snowmobiles (100r for two laps), and it's a great place for taking photos📸
2️⃣Gang Spruce Forest
After exiting the Galongla Tunnel, the cedar trees look very beautiful after the snow, with snow-capped mountains🏔️ in the background, truly outshining Erbin (If it snows, it is recommended to leave Medog earlier to see the morning glow, the golden sunlight on the mountains, and the beautiful cedar trees)
3️⃣Mirage
You can see the Medog county town and a sea of clouds, "half in the human world, half in a fairyland," but remember to check the sunrise time, as the glow will be gone if you go too late
4️⃣Renqingbeng
Renqingbeng Monastery is currently under renovation and temporarily closed
The kora path is right next to the Renqingbeng Monastery on the plank road, follow it, and it takes about 2h to complete the whole journey. Most of the people doing the kora are Tibetan compatriots, and the scenery is also very good, with many sacred traces along the way, it is recommended to take a walk
5️⃣Piaomiao Tea Garden Viewpoint
You can photograph the golden sunlight on Mount Namjagbarwa🏔️, as well as see a sea of clouds, with hardly any tourists, and it's a shooting spot that hardly anyone knows about (Pay attention to the sunrise time on the second morning if you want to see the golden sunlight on Mount Namjagbarwa)
6️⃣Guoguotang Big Bend
No need to say much about this, it's very famous, but currently, due to road construction, to go to Guoguotang you can only walk after crossing the bridge, or ride a motorcycle with a villager, about 6km away
7️⃣Medog Museum
It's not big, and if you're quick, you can finish visiting in just over half an hour. It mainly introduces the customs of the Menba and Luoba ethnic groups, as well as the development history of Medog. The outdoor platform on the third floor also offers an overlook of the entire Medog county town
