Wat Awuth Wichithraram, Mae Boonruen, history
The history of Mae Boonruen of Wat Awuth Wichithraram, was originally a laywoman who was strict in the precepts and truly devoted to Buddhism. She was from Ayutthaya, but moved to Bang Pakok. Then she married a police officer. However, after living together for a long time, they did not have children, so she adopted a son to raise. After that, her husband and Mae Boonruen were ordained as monks. After one year, her husband disrobed, while Mae Boonruen was still deeply moved by the taste of the Dharma and continued to practice Dharma.
After that, Mae Boonruen studied and studied traditional Thai medicine (seminars) without charging anyone who came to receive treatment. Many people call her Grandma Doctor or Mother Doctor. Before coming to Wat Awutwikasitaram, she was at Wat Sampanthawong. She consecrated amulets such as Phra Phuttho, which is one hundred thousand in the country.
"Mae Chee, Mae Mae, and Upasika" are the pronouns that her disciples use to call "Mae Boonruen Tongboontem". Even though she passed away in 1964, even though almost 60 years have passed, every Sunday after noon, her disciples still come to chant in front of the statue of Mae Chee Boonruen on the Mae Chee Boonruen Tongboontem pavilion at Wat Awutwikasitaram, which is the temple where she used to practice the precepts while she was still alive.
