2025 Austria Travel Guide: Must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transportation routes (updated in February)

We booked a three-bedroom loft apartment, and it was exactly as shown in the pictures—everything was clean and tidy. From the bedroom windows, you can see mountains and lakes on three sides, and from the living room balcony, you can see the village of Hallstatt. The rooms are equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay and cooking. The owners provide essentials like tea, coffee, salt, sugar, and basic cooking oil. The apartment also has many games, puzzles, and books that my children loved. They also have a sun deck by the lake, which is a great spot for a quick picnic. The apartment is very close to all the places you want to visit in Hallstatt, yet it is very quiet and away from the tourist hustle and bustle. Hallstatt Lahn (bus/boat station) is a 4-minute walk from the apartment, and we had no trouble dragging our suitcases from there to the apartment. There is a children's park 50 meters from the apartment, which the kids loved. Supermarkets and restaurants are also nearby. The owners are very nice. They live on the first floor. They helped us move our luggage to the second floor (where we stayed) and let us use the washing machine (+ dryer) where we washed all our clothes. They even brought some bread so the kids could feed the swans on the sun deck. I will definitely stay here again the next time I visit Hallstatt.

Came here for a night whilst solo backpacking. A day for me is enough to see the highlights of Vienna. Night life was okayish to be honest. But sightseeings are so pretty. The architectures are next level and would highly recommend everyone to visit the city!! I went solo and met amazing solo travelers there. I was never alone. Schönbrunn Palace (German: Schloss Schönbrunn [ʃøːnˈbʁʊn]; Central Bavarian: Schloss Scheenbrunn) was the main summer residence of the Habsburg rulers, located in Hietzing, Vienna. The name Schönbrunn (meaning “beautiful spring”) has its roots in an artesian well from which water was consumed by the court. In 1569, Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian II purchased a large floodplain of the Wien river beneath a hill, situated between Meidling and Hietzing. The former owner, in 1548, had erected a mansion called Katterburg. The emperor ordered the area to be fenced and put game there such as pheasants, ducks, deer and boar, in order for it to serve as the court's recreational hunting ground. This time, we changed our accommodation from COOEE to a local-style house on a hill on the route to Hallstatt, which has a view that is just as beautiful as the front of the COOEE Hotel that we often show you. I will review it for you because I like it a lot too. Today, while driving to Gosau Lake, we took the opportunity to take a picture of the roadside stream that we had our eye on for a long time. You can see how beautiful it is from the cover photo. I think it is another highlight of this place. P.S. During this period, the sun rises late and sets early (before 5 pm) and most importantly, it moves around to the south and does not rise overhead. Therefore, areas surrounded by high mountains such as Gosau Lake will only have short periods of sunlight at certain times. The historic Mirabell Palace, located in Salzburg, Austria, boasts a long history. Although the palace was renovated and restored in a neoclassical style, its famous interior decorations are exquisite examples of Baroque architecture. This location is also a famous filming site for the song 'Do Re Mi' from the movie 'The Sound of Music'! Due to limited time, we stayed here for less than half an hour. We mainly explored the park to see the scenes from the movie (there should be signposts nearby...), and later walked around the palace building. However, there wasn't much to see inside! There's no need to spend extra time looking for an entrance or stairs to go up. Just passing by for a visit is enough!

Beautiful Christmas ski trip in Austria with my host family was amazing and we had such a great experience together last Christmas, it was my first ski trip I would recommend to try.
