Mount Aso is a volcano located in the Kyushu region. It is a large volcano that is still active and continues to erupt. The grasslands on top of the mountain remain lush and beautiful. If you visit Fukuoka and are unsure where to go, and if you have a JR Pass, Mount Aso is a great option to consider, even though it requires multiple transfers. Traveling there: If you have a JR Pass, take the Shinkansen to Kumamoto, then transfer to a train to Aso Station. The journey takes about 2 hours, but you should check the schedule on the website as there are both direct routes and routes that require a transfer at Ozu Station. Once you arrive at the train station, buy a round-trip bus ticket to the volcano for about 1500 yen. The bus ride takes around 30-40 minutes to reach the base of the mountain. You can either walk up or take a minibus, which takes about 5-10 minutes. We chose to take the minibus up and walked down on the way back.

Instead, we ran and took pictures with them. I really want you to visit this place. I like it so much. 📍Mt. Aso Naka-daka 1st crater A volcanic crater that is open on days when there is no eruption. On the day we went, there was no eruption, so we could go up and see it. It's as beautiful as Mars 😂 Although there aren't many big viewpoints, Aso has a lot of places to park and take pictures. We drove with the windows open, kept putting our faces out to feel the cool breeze, and saw the beautiful view with our own eyes. We forgot to take a lot of pictures.
