Tracking Leopards in Asia: Friends Thought I Went to Africa for the Great Migration
East Africa is incredibly popular, with the Great Migration making Kenya and Tanzania top destinations🤩
But in Asia, there are also hidden gem safari destinations
If you can't catch the Great Migration this year, these 3 Asian safaris will let you roam the primal forests and track the mysterious trails of animals🐆
👉Family-Friendly Option
Bali
⭐ Taman Safari Bali
🔹If it's your first time experiencing a safari or you're traveling with kids, Taman Safari is the perfect entry-level option
🔹Although translated as a wildlife park, almost all animals in Taman Safari are free-roaming, retaining their wild nature
🔹You can ride a caged vehicle through the real wild animals, with tigers and leopards jumping onto the roof, and you can even feed them through the bars, just 20cm away!
🔹The heavy breathing of giant cats is right in your ears, and facing these gentle yet fierce beasts, you can't help but want to pet them! (But that's forbidden🙅)
🔹Taman Safari is like a mild version of East Africa, offering the comfort of a zoo and the thrill of a safari, making it ideal for family trips
👉Classic Option
Sri Lanka
⭐ Yala National Park
🔹Yala National Park is famous for its large leopard population. Sri Lanka, with an area only the size of Ningxia Province, has the highest density of leopards in the world. Like Kenya, you can experience a primal safari here
🔹Visitors usually take off-road vehicles into the nature reserve, with local drivers often doubling as guides, leading you to track wild animals. Sloth bears, spotted deer, and buffalo are common sights in front of the jeep, and sometimes you even have to stop to let elephant herds cross the road!
🔹However, when getting out to take photos, it's advised not to get close to water bodies, as you might be attacked by crocodiles
🔹If you want to see leopards up close, set out in the afternoon and tour until dusk, which is the active time for leopards
🔹From December to April, the sparse vegetation in the reserve makes it easier to spot animals
👉For Leopard Enthusiasts
India
⭐ Jhalana Leopard Safari
🔹Located on the outskirts of the ancient city of Rajasthan in northern India, less than 4km from Jaipur Airport. Jhalana is India's first leopard reserve, open to tourists since 2016
🔹It provides leopards with a primal living environment, with over 40 adult leopards and a few cubs
🔹Leopards are at the top of the food chain here, with wild boars and blue bulls as their reserves
🔹Because of the abundant food, the leopards here are very robust, roaming freely in the reserve. Since Indian leopards are diurnal, you often see leopard tracks while riding through the national park in an off-road vehicle
🔹Despite its remote location, Jhalana offers the highest chance in Asia to see wild leopards, making it a prime spot for leopard enthusiasts

A whirlwind trip to Manila
#manilatrip
Lost and found in Manila's diverse tapestry
I embarked on a whirlwind journey to Manila, a city of contrasts and hidden gems. My first day, I delved into Intramuros's storied past, exploring its UNESCO-listed walls and Fort Santiago's imposing presence. Vibrant Quiapo beckoned next, where I savored street food and soaked up the lively atmosphere.
A cooking class taught me the secrets of Filipino cuisine, igniting my culinary curiosity. I befriended fellow enthusiasts, bonding over shared love for adobo, kare-kare, and sinigang.
A day trip to Tagaytay offered respite from the city's hustle. Taal Volcano's majestic silhouette, reflected in Taal Lake, captivated my senses. I hiked its trails, capturing breathtaking views and savoring the serenity.
On my last day, I embarked on a unique exploration of Smokey Mountain slum. My guide shared the resilient stories of its residents, inspiring me with their courage and resilience.
Manila's diverse tapestry left a lasting impression. Vibrant culture, delicious food, stunning natural beauty, and warm people entwined to create an unforgettable experience.
