Lucerne, Switzerland: The Bridges of Madison County, the European Town with Mountains and Rivers!
Lucerne, also translated as "Luzern," is the capital of the canton of Lucerne, located in central Switzerland. Known as the most beautiful and ideal tourist city in Switzerland, it is also the most popular Swiss resort. 🏞️🇨🇭
Lake Lucerne
Lake Lucerne, also known as the Vierwaldstättersee, is the fourth largest lake in Switzerland and the first lake entirely located in Switzerland. The shoreline of Lake Lucerne twists and turns, giving rise to many forks that connect the city of Lucerne to the surrounding peaks. 🌊🏔️
Mount Rigi
Known as the Queen of the Mountains, Mount Rigi offers a 360-degree view of the Swiss Alps, the idyllic landscape below, as well as 13 lakes, and even views of France and Germany. It's a great place to watch sunrises and sunsets, and in winter, you can often see breathtaking cloud formations. 🌅❄️
Chapel Bridge
The Chapel Bridge, also known as the Kapellbrücke, is the symbol of Lucerne and the oldest covered wooden bridge in Europe. Walking here at dusk, you can still enjoy a romantic medieval feeling in Lucerne. Today, the Chapel Bridge is still an indispensable sight on Lucerne postcards. 🌉📸
Hof Church
Hof Church, also known as the Hofkirche, with the full name of the Church of St. Leodegar, is now Lucerne's most important church and the residents' center of faith. It is also a place for church music performances. ⛪🎶

Swiss small poor travel! Money-saving strategy!
1
Who says Switzerland is not fun in winter!! It's too beautiful! There are snow mountains and greenery
This time I spent about 7k RMB in total (see the last picture)
Play: Use Interlaken as a transit station, and return to a place every day. The advantage of this is that it is very flexible. Everyone knows that Swiss weather depends on luck. In this way, you only need to decide where to go according to the weather of the day
Transportation
The plane was bought more than a month in advance. Zurich to go, Geneva to return
Local transportation decisively swiss pass, very fragrant, tired can take the bus at any time, golden train to see where good can get off directly
Hotel
Living in the small town of Wilderswil, which is only 6 minutes away from Interlaken train, you can also take the bus from Interlaken ost. There is not much to eat in the town, usually buy in Interlaken. But the town has no light pollution and is very quiet, the stars are super good at night! The hotel faces the Jungfrau, and the snow mountain is just outside the window when the weather is good
Exchange money
Just find a UBS and settle in francs is the real-time exchange rate. One of my great pleasures in Switzerland is to compare the exchange rates in various places, really only UBS has no handling fee
Play
1 Day 1: Play in Zurich, stay in Interlaken on the same day. Zurich train station can store bags, there are many notes can be flipped. It was New Year's Eve that day, and the town's fireworks were quite good
2 Day 2: Interlaken round trip Zermatt (Matterhorn). The weather is super good, but my friends and I have high anti. The winter reflection there is frozen and covered by snow, and it is very dangerous to go there without professional shoes, I suggest everyone to consider life safety
3 Day 3: Interlaken - Golden Train Lucerne - Rigi. Rigi is really beautiful, although it is cloudy, it may be my favorite mountain, if conditions permit, take a cruise is great!4 Day 4: Interlaken round trip Grindelwald (First Mountain and Dream Slope), stay in Geneva at night. The paragliding and projects were cancelled due to the strong wind that day, but the scenery is really good. Remember to check the last cable car down the mountain time
Rigi - The Queen of Mountain in Switzerland
Transport: Free with Swiss Travel Pass/Day Pass, can either access from Lucern or Zurich. Recommend to take Boat ride from Lucern to Vitznau, then change to cogwheel train to Rigi Kulm. Descend from the hill from Rigi Kulm to Rigi-First and change to Weggis by taking a cable car!
Scenery: Beautiful and super nice view on top of Rigi Mountain. You may also enjoy the full lake Lucern view via the cable to Weggis!
Food:
There is a restaurant at Rigi Kulm for quick bite
Souvenir: Recommend to buy at the tourist information shop at Rigi Kulm. Price is friendly and reasonable! Got my Rigi bottle there at CHF12.9!
#Rigi #Switzerland
Overall: With ST/Day Pass, highly recommending going without additional cost!
#Lucern
Mount Rigi, Switzerland
Our local friend highly recommended us to go, Mount Rigi, where the shortest route is to arrive Arth Goldau, then take tram to mount top. Tram fare has a big discount after 4pm, it is not an issue when you visit in Summer time as sunset is almost 9pm. Spent 40 mins in a classic tram with natural view, then it brings you reach the top spot. Mush less tourists as compared to the nearest mount Pilatus. You are reserved a stunning overview to city Zug and Luzern at the lookout, hiking around Rigi is another good option that is chill and refreshing for everyone.

MT Rigi Mineral bath and SPA
#Mt rigi
#spa and mineral baths #above the clouds
Weather is perfect and it feel so good to be able to live above the clouds. Beautiful spa resorts with fabulous dinners and breakfast spread.
Highly recommend for anyone who want to experience mineral baths and spa in the mountains.
Hiking is ideal for beginners with no additional skills required. Have fun and enjoy
The most cost-effective and beautiful attraction in Switzerland—Mount Rigi.
🌟Compared to the Jungfrau, which costs 95 Swiss francs even with an early bird ticket and a Swiss Pass, and the Matterhorn, which costs 57 Swiss francs even at half price, Mount Rigi is really friendly. If you have a Swiss Pass, you can check in for free!
❤️The Jungfrau and the Matterhorn are more about admiring the beauty of the snow-capped mountains, while Mount Rigi also offers beautiful lakes.
🚉Transportation:
Outbound
1️⃣Luzern-Vitznau: Boat
2️⃣Vitznau-Rigi Kulm: Mountain train
Return
3️⃣Rigi Kulm- Rigi Kaltbad: Mountain train
4️⃣Rigi Kaltbad- Weggis: Cable car
5️⃣Weggis-Luzern: Boat
✅The boat dock is right across from Lucerne train station. The boat to Vitznau is at Dock 1. The earliest boat is at 8:12am, and there is one boat every hour.
✅Sit on the left side of the mountain train in the direction of travel to see the lake view. Be sure to get off the boat early, otherwise all the good seats will be taken.
✅Spend about 1 year on the mountain, and remember to check out the stone of Mount Emei. Check the time of the next mountain train before you start playing, otherwise you will have to wait a long time if you miss one.
✅The cable car has only one car, and a group of people are crowded together. Only those on the edge can see the beautiful scenery.
✅It takes about 10 minutes to walk from the cable car station to the Weggis dock. If you don't plan to visit the town, pay attention to the departure time of the next boat.
⏰It takes about 1 hour each for the boat and the mountain train. It takes at least 5.6 hours to play Mount Rigi once. Unless you don't take a boat, it takes about an hour for a one-way trip by train + mountain train.
🌸Key point:
Don't go up if the weather is bad, you may not see the lake and the snow-capped mountains. I went up on a rainy day, and I saw the lake a few times at first, but I couldn't see anything after a while. The picture was taken the next day when I went up the mountain to reshoot. To save time on the return trip, I didn't take a boat, but took a mountain train in another direction, and I also saw a different scenery.
If you are physically fit, you can consider taking a boat to Weggis and taking a cable car up the mountain. It seems that there are fewer people than taking a cable car down, but the road to the cable car station is uphill and it will be very tiring. (Not tested, just guessing)
Hiking Mount in Switzerland: A Journey with the Mountain Train
#hikingtrails Hiking up Mount Rigi, often called the “Queen of the Mountains,” was a breathtaking experience from start to finish. The trail led us through lush meadows, serene forests, and offered panoramic views of Lake Lucerne and the surrounding Swiss Alps. As we ascended, the air grew cooler, and the views became even more spectacular, with the snow-capped peaks glistening in the distance.
What made the final stretch of the hike especially memorable was walking along the train tracks of the famous Rigi cogwheel railway. Seeing the little mountain train chugging steadily up the steep slope, puffing smoke into the crisp mountain air, added a charming and nostalgic touch to the journey. The train’s bright red carriages contrasted beautifully with the green hills and rocky slopes, and its rhythmic clattering on the tracks made for a pleasant and unusual hiking companion.
Reaching the summit, with the trains arriving and departing, felt like a perfect blend of nature and Swiss engineering. The experience of hiking alongside the train not only offered stunning views but also a delightful glimpse into the charm and history of this beloved mountain. It was the perfect way to end the hike, combining the tranquility of nature with the quaintness of the Swiss mountain train.
Lake Lucerne
Lake Lucerne, or Vierwaldstättersee in German, is one of the most beautiful and unique lakes in Switzerland. Located in the central region of the country, the lake is surrounded by the stunning Alps and encompasses several historic cities, including Lucerne. The lake has an unusual shape, with many bays and arms that make it look like a maze from the air. The lake is surrounded by famous mountains such as Pilatus, Rigi, and Stanserhorn, which are popular destinations for hiking, biking, or taking a cable car. The lake is popular for cruises, both on historic steamboats and modern vessels. Cruises on Lake Lucerne provide stunning views of the mountains and villages that line the lakeshore. In addition to cruises, tourists can also enjoy other activities such as swimming, sailing, or visiting Mount Rigi and Mount Pilatus by cable car for spectacular views from above. Lake Lucerne offers the perfect combination of natural beauty, history, and recreational activities, making it one of the most popular tourist destinations in Switzerland.
Magic Hiking Trip in Rigi
#hikingtime A hiking trip on Mount Rigi, known as the "Queen of the Mountains," offers an enchanting experience with panoramic views of the Swiss Alps and shimmering Lake Lucerne. The trails wind through picturesque meadows and serene forests, leading to stunning viewpoints where the beauty of Switzerland unfolds before your eyes. Whether hiking at sunrise or sunset, the magical atmosphere of Rigi leaves a lasting impression, making it a must-visit destination for nature lovers.
Cool Rigi mountain
My recent hiking trip to Rigi Mountain was an unforgettable adventure filled with stunning natural beauty and exhilarating trails. Known as the “Queen of the Mountains,” Rigi offers a diverse range of hiking paths that cater to all levels of hikers, from beginners to seasoned trekkers.
The journey started with a scenic train ride up the mountain, which provided incredible views of the surrounding lakes and peaks. The well-maintained train added a comfortable and enjoyable start to the hike.
Once on the trails, the experience only got better. The paths are clearly marked and offer a variety of terrains, from lush meadows to dense forests, each segment revealing more of the breathtaking landscape. The panoramic views from the summit were simply spectacular, with a 360-degree vista of the Swiss Alps and the shimmering lakes below.
Along the way, we encountered charming alpine huts where we could take a break and enjoy some local Swiss delicacies. The friendly locals and fellow hikers added a wonderful social element to the journey.#switzerland #rigi
How much fun is the tourist-packed Lucerne? Here's a two-day tour guide for you
Visiting Switzerland and only staying in Lucerne for half a day? You're missing out. Let me tell you, there are plenty of fun places here! Let's get started with the two-day itinerary –
Day 1: Hiking Mount Rigi
Mount Rigi, the sister mountain to China's Mount Emei, is also known as the Queen of the Mountains locally. Those with a Swiss Travel Pass can take the mountain train directly to the top.
On a clear day, you can see mountains and lakes all around. It's recommended to stop at the town of Weggie for lunch, enjoy the food, the scenery, and relax.
Day 2: Mount Pilatus & Half-Day Tour of Lucerne City
Mount Pilatus is said to have the world's steepest railway, which is why I came. However, it's not as steep as I expected, and the summit is somewhat similar to Taipei's Maokong.
The landmark building in the old town of Lucerne is the Chapel Bridge, which attracts many tourists. Even on a rainy day, the photos turn out quite well.
Also, don't miss the Musegg Wall! It's about a 20-minute walk from the city center, with some uphill walking involved, which can be tiring. However, the view from the top of the wall overlooking the whole of Lucerne is beautiful.
🥩Food Recommendations:
In Lucerne, you can try various cuisines, including American, Italian, Turkish, etc. Among them, a Chinese restaurant called Jialu is highly recommended; their boiled fish is so authentic!
🏫Accommodation Tips:
There are quite a few accommodation options around the old town of Lucerne. We stayed at a hotel called Magic Old Town. The interior decoration of the rooms is lovely, and we were even upgraded to a suite with a jacuzzi.
Switzerland in summer dazzles with colors, making it incredibly desirable!
Summer in Switzerland, with its lakes and mountains, is mesmerizing. I miss the days of hiking in Switzerland during summer, from Meiringen to Kleine Scheidegg, passing by snow-capped mountains, wildflowers, and lakes, like a dream! Encountering wild foxes while hiking around Lake First! Today, I also got interested in the summer hiking + traditional Swiss barbecue experience at Mount Rigi, and I want to go hiking at the Matterhorn again in summer!!
His Excellency Mr. Bai Ruiyi, the Swiss Ambassador to China, graced the event with his presence and delivered a speech, sharing his unique travel advice and inviting Chinese tourists to slow down in Switzerland to focus on discovering the essence and beauty of life. Mr. Martin Nydegger, the Director of Switzerland Tourism, also came to Beijing to unveil the new logo of Switzerland Tourism.
My friends and I also took a fun quiz 'Which Little Swiss are you?' Turns out I'm the self-exploring 'Ke Little Swiss'! Come and find out which way of exploring Switzerland suits you best?
I'll just buy that picture frame...?
There's already a picture 🖼️🎨
When you go to Rigi, you'll hear a bell ringing. It's a bell hanging from a cow's neck.
It looks so heavy..! I can see cows so freely up close.
In reality, the poop smells really bad, but it's a fact that they're in this great nature, so it's more beautiful☺

Top Of Mount Rigi
#2024wish
Before my boss, customers and I went for our business trip, we went to Lucerne Switzerland for a short weekend trip. On the second day, we went for Mount Rigi. The journey to there was fun as we got to take different modes of transport (cruise, trams). Needless to say, the view from top of Mount Rigi was spectacular. It was of my highlights of 2023.
In 2024, I hope to experience Christmas season again at Europe, as I had an enjoyable time last time.
Rigi - Queen of the Mountains
Mount Rigi is also known as the Queen of the Mountains in Switzerland. We were blessed with lovely clear weather and could see the spectacular panoramic views all around. One of our favourite places in this trip!
How to get there:
We started our excursion to Mt Rigi with a scenic steamboat ride across Lake Lucerne to Vitznau. Then we took the cogwheel up to Rigi.

Winter Bliss at Rigi Kulm
#familytrips
Rigi Kulm, often referred to as the "Queen of the Mountains," is a majestic peak in the Swiss Alps, standing proudly at 1,798 meters above sea level. Its history dates back to the 19th century when it became a popular destination for tourists seeking breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes.
In winter, Rigi Kulm transforms into a snow-covered wonderland, attracting families like mine for memorable vacations. During our visit, the crisp mountain air and pristine snow captivated us. As we ascended on the cogwheel train, the panoramic vistas unfolded like a winter fairy tale. The warmth of the sun on our faces and the laughter echoing through the snowy peaks created a magical atmosphere.
Rigi Kulm's charm lies not only in its natural beauty but also in the shared moments of joy and wonder experienced by generations of visitors, like my family's winter escapade—a cherished chapter in our travel tales.

Mt Emei Partnership Stone At Mt Rigi
#wheretogo
When I was in Chengdu, I wanted very much to go Mt Emei but opportunities forbid me to do so. A month or so after my Chengdu trip, I was ar Mt Rigi at Lucerne Switzerland. To my surprise, I saw a stone with Mt Emei carved on it. Thus, I found it quite a coincidence. I read the wordings on the stone and found out that the stone symbolised the partnership between Mt Emei and Mt Rigi.
Spectacular View At Mount Rigi
#wheretogo
It was the second day of the weekend at Lucerne Switzerland. We decided to explore Mount Rigi. We opted for the cruise ride to go Vitznau whereby we took the railway up to the peak of Mount Rigi. It was a spectacular ride both at the cruise and rail. We also enjoyed ourselves greatly while at the mountain peak, admiring the lakes and mountains from up there.
Rigi Kulm - A Geneva Day Trip
Rigi Kulm is the perfect day trip from Geneva and presents a great day out for all ages. You can reach the summit from Arth-Goldau station, a 30 minute train ride from Geneva. Switzerland Travel | How beautiful is the "Queen of the Mountains" Rigi?
When I stepped into Switzerland, I suddenly realized that human understanding of the beauty of nature can always be refreshed. And the Rigi Mountain is truly a fairyland in the clouds.
The Rigi Mountain, known as the "Queen of the Mountains", offers a 360-degree panoramic view of the Alps. High mountains, snow peaks, forests, lakes... everything is naturally filtered and beautiful.
As early as 1871, the Rigi Mountain opened the first mountain railway in Europe, and since then tourists from all over the world have been coming in endless streams. Sitting on the red train and going up the mountain, the breeze gently blows and the scenery is picturesque. Whenever the train stops at a station, some people choose to hike and not miss any enchanting scenery.
🚢Transportation: From Lucerne, take a cruise to Vitnauz, then take a car up to the top of Rigi Kulm, and then take a cable car to the town of Weggis.
Sharing a snow rescue dog St. Bernard
Jie only named Marx, St. Bernard is a bit disgusting me [feet]
Swiss National Treasure St. Bernard, weight can reach 90 kg, Standing up to 90 cm in height, it is one of the largest dog breeds in the world. The St. Bernard is the most effective assistant to the lifeguards in the Alps. Following the lifeguards to rescue the people in the mountains, it is called the Animal Rescue Hero. But the number of St. Bernard is gradually decreasing, and it is increasingly difficult for tourists to see them.
St. Bernard is really cute, running and rolling in the snow, full of impatience and stickiness, a small wooden barrel hanging around the neck, the original barrel filled with spirits, is to wipe the body of the distress For heating.
The most famous exhibit at the Berne Natural History Museum in the Swiss capital is a specimen of St. Bernard's Baal. Baal has rescued many victims in the snow, 1414 in 1414. It left the world.
