this is our first time going there. we were very excited coming there. location is at jl. stasiun no.1 panjang kidul, ambarawa, central java. this place near Semarang about 1 hour from city. in this museum there are many spot to take a photos. place are relative clean and staff are kind. very recomended to bring kids because many train placed in museum and we can ride just for photos. please visited the museum on weekend because the train with diesel operation only at weekend. the price are 100k/person. htm the museum 10k. #railways #museum

The Ambarawa Railway Museum is one of the most visited tourist destinations in Semarang. Ambarawa Station, formerly known as Wilem I Station, was inaugurated by the Dutch East Indies government on May 21, 1878. Initially, this station was for the smooth operation of military mobility from the Semarang area to Fort Wilem I in the Ambarawa area. On April 9, 1976, Ambarawa Station officially became a museum. The inauguration was carried out by Supardjo Rustam, the Governor of Central Java that year. This museum was then used to store collections related to trains and became one of the historical tours in Semarang. The Ambarawa Railway Museum is the only railway museum with ancient technology left by the colonialists in Indonesia. In this museum there are 26 steam locomotives and four diesel-powered locomotives that still look so sturdy. We were explained one by one about the history of the museum.
