Driving along the winding coastline, with dramatic cliffs on one side and the dazzling blue Mediterranean on the other, was simply breathtaking. The sound of waves crashing against the rocks, the salty sea air mingling with the sweet scent of lemon trees – every breath was pure bliss. Positano is truly a fairytale town perched on a cliffside. Its colorful houses are stacked one upon another, like an artist's palette exploded across the landscape. It's an explosion of vibrant hues, making it utterly picturesque. In Amalfi, the Cathedral of St. Andrew (Duomo di Sant'Andrea) stands majestically. Its Gothic architecture is incredibly solemn and grand, while the intricate frescoes and sculptures beautifully narrate centuries of history. Stepping inside felt like a journey back in time, a silent conversation with the past. One of the highlights was taking the elevator from Amalfi up to the hilltop platform and then hiking along the coastal path down to Atrani. Walking this trail, overlooking the magnificent coastline, was an indescribable experience. Every vista I encountered along the way felt like a precious gift from nature. Colorful houses are built on the hillside, and beautiful flower beds are dotted from top to bottom. The different shades of blue in the sea are connected to the blue of the sky. Strolling in the beautiful and colorful town, feeling the natural unbeatable sea view and the beautiful mountain town is really enough for this life memory.

#EuropeExploration Day 1: Naples From Rome to Naples by ITALO high-speed train. (It takes about 70 minutes. I took the train that arrived after 13:00.) After visiting the Naples National Museum, I visited the Royal Palace and other places. Day 2: Pompeii, Herculaneum First, I headed to Pompeii by the Vesuvian Circumferential Railway. It takes about 40 minutes from Piazza Garibaldi Station. Pompeii is crowded, so I recommend making a reservation in advance. I took the train that departed from Garibaldi Station after 8:00 am so that I would arrive with plenty of time to spare before the 9:00 am opening time. The most convenient station for sightseeing on the Vesuvian Circumferential Railway is Pompei Scavi - Villa Dei Misteri Station. Be careful not to confuse it with other stations. If you want to take your time sightseeing in Pompeii, you should plan on spending 5 hours. Even if you just want to take a quick look, it will take at least 3 hours. I used the Pompeii Plus ticket to see the Villa of the Mysteries and other places, so it took a long time. For lunch, I ate a sandwich I bought at the supermarket, then took the Vesuvian Circumferential Railway from Pompei Scavi - Villa Dei Misteri to Ercolano Scavi. Depending on the time of day, you may be able to go directly, or you may need to transfer. I returned to Pompei Scavi - Villa Dei Misteri after 2 p.m., but there was no direct train nearby, so I changed trains at Torre Annunziata and headed to Ercolano Scavi station. It's about a 20-minute walk from here to the Herculaneum ruins. I think it will take about an hour to sightsee here if you're quick, or about two hours if you take your time. Piazza Garibaldi station, which is directly connected to Naples Central Station, is about 20 minutes away by the Vesuvian Circumferential Railway from Ercolano Scavi station, so it's very close. Day 3: Amalfi, Positano I booked a tour that combined buses and ferries. As far as I could see, the cheapest tour you can go to is around 60 euros. I took the tour that departed at 8:20am and arrived in Naples at 5:30pm. After that, I had dinner and returned to Rome. I was lucky enough to stretch a little a pay a visit to #sorrento as well, just a little up the coast close to Naples and try some of the best #limoncello I’ve ever tried 😋 I made sure to buy a few bottles to bring back to Australia. If you are planning to stay a few days get ready to hop on the ferry and have some walking / hiking to do. Some of the most beautiful spots for pictures are high and you need to take quite a few steps. But the view is absolutely rewarding. Towns like Positano, Ravello & Amalfi are known for their colorful buildings, cramped streets which gives off breathtaking views.The coastal drive has one of the best panoramic sea view and it’s really serene and beautiful. This place is rich in history and culture and we loved the delicious fresh seafood and local foods.

#February travel support event On the way from Sorrento to Positano, Amalfi, and Matera. The scenery is spectacular, but driving is incredibly difficult. My family drove a Sportage Bota, a slightly smaller SUV, and it was so beautiful. The road is one lane each way, and it's winding like Daegwallyeong in Korea, with steep cliffs on the sides. Even veteran drivers are scared. Since coming to Italy, I've come to understand 'why Europe prefers compact cars.' Basically, the roads are too narrow, and most drivers are very violent? However, Positano was so beautiful that I barely managed to get to the observatory and took pictures. I was afraid of how people who drive here during peak season would get around since it was so nice during the off-season. I considered staying in Positano before making the reservation, but it was too expensive, so I organized my route and stayed in Sorrento. Anyway, Positano has a great view, but the accommodations are too expensive, and it’s difficult to eat on our route, so we go to Amalfi. The coastal scenery isn’t as good as Positano, but there’s a small beach and a cathedral worth seeing, so we look around. It’s impressive. I wanted to have lunch here, but the narrow coastal cliff road makes parking difficult, and if you take the wrong road, it’s difficult to make a U-turn. (There was a parking lot in Amalfi. It costs 3 euros for 1 hour in the off-season of January.) After looking around Amalfi and going to eat, I got my car out of the parking lot and on the way back, the parking at the restaurant I had decided on in advance was impossible, so I passed by without eating. Nevertheless, Positano and Amalfi are beautiful enough to visit at least once.
