While you can find them everywhere driving in the countryside amid seas of olive trees, the ones in Alberobello are the most famous and colourful ones. Walking throughout the village you’ll find small shops with handcrafted products and souvenirs, plus delicious local products like “tarallucci”, “orecchiette”, and olive oil (probably the best olive oil you’ll ever taste in your life, as Puglia is home to more than a billion olive trees!). I’ve wanted to visit Alberobello for so long and finally at the end of 2024 I can tick it off my bucket list. It really is a fairytale place. It’s so nice just walking around the streets and so interesting that many people still live in these Trulli. There are some great museums housed inside some of the larger Trulli complexes and there are people who even open their homes to tourists, so you can see how, even today people live in these dwellings some of which date from the 14th century.
