A great mountain town. I took so many photos with my phone along the way. I was afraid I would miss every corner. There are many artists here. There are small shops and various works of art. It is worth a visit!

Getting There - the starting point of Le Crémade Nord (not to be confused with the bus station 50 minutes away!) is only a 20 minute drive from Aix-en-Provence city center! 🚗 I would recommend renting a car when visiting Provence to make the most of the area. We parked by a nearby restaurant (please see last picture!). Attractions - this may be a less well known hike, but very good for a quick getaway from the city center into the wilderness. The view of Montaigne Ste Victoire ⛰ was stunning, although Lac Zola 💧 itself was a bit underwhelming. Those who enjoy mountain views (like me) will love it, those who enjoy the water, not so much. Other Details - good for beginner hikers 🐾 as the whole journey only took around 2 hours there and back. While I only had a few hours to spare in Aix en Provence during a week long trip. I did manage to stroll around the Cours Mirabeau, which was quite lovely during the day. The weather was perfect and the place with its colorful buildings and architecture made for a fine walk around this part. There were several fountains too and the tree lined roads had a lively vibe. I'm told there is a market that takes place over here on Thursdays. The building with their regal architecture and open air cafes added to the ambience of this stretch. It clearly is the grandest boulevard and heart of the city. #myhiddengems If you happen to be in Marseilles and looking for a fantastic day trip. This turquoise water gem, Cassis would make for a perfect choice. Actually given what it offers and what it costs, I would even recommend a stay here. Amongst my favourite destinations in the south of France. This decently priced coastal town with its season side charms and visuals, has even been called the poor man's st. tropez. A drive from Marseilles would typically take you about 40 minutes or if you are on your own. I took a train from Marseille that didn't cost much and only took about 20-25 minutes. I had met a family here that came straight from the airport by taxi. I think that's a great idea too and might set you back by 100 bucks or so but very convenient. Cassis, besides it own sights is also located nearby some places of tourist interest. I was lucky that it was lavender season and so visited the neighbouring town of Aix en Provence. There is the option of La ciotat as well. In terms of local sights and transport. There is the usual set of churches, vineyards dn castles worthy of a visit. I comfortably did that with public buses. The food was a delight as with most of France.
