On Tokoname Ceramic Ware Road, there are many unique ceramic shops run by artists, as well as traditional old-style pottery shops. Everything is made by the shop owners themselves, and each piece is unique and worth collecting. [World Tile Museum]: On Tokoname Ceramic Ware Road, there is also a novel and unique World Tile Museum, which was a surprising discovery on this trip. What impressed me the most was that there are over a thousand representative tiles collected and displayed here, which is quite spectacular. I also experienced "tile pasting" and made a photo frame with small tiles representing the colors of autumn as a souvenir of this autumn trip. #getgoing2025 I booked this hotel soon after it opened so received a rather large discount. It’s an honest 6-minute walk from the airport. The hotel is beautifully designed with a great bar and restaurant, and also has a convenience store close by. Check-in was smooth and the staff are super friendly. The room is very comfortable with all the amenities one could need plus a huge comfy bed. Anyway, if you can spend a few extra yen, then I’d recommend this hotel highly for its convenience, quality and comfort.

#getgoing2025 Visiting Inuyama, Japan, was a journey through time. The highlight was Inuyama Castle, one of Japan's oldest wooden castles, offering panoramic views of the Kiso River. Strolling through the castle town, I explored Urakuen Garden, home to the Jo-an teahouse, a masterpiece of early Edo period architecture. The town's rich history and well-preserved sites made it a memorable experience.

#getgoing2025 Inuyama is one of Japan's oldest surviving castles and considered Japan's National Treasure. We came on January 3 and in December, it recently completed its renovation. Our combo ticket included entrance but normally entrance costs 550 yen. If you go inside, you must remove your shoes. They will give you a bag to carry your shoes. Then you can go all the way up to the balcony and get great views. I did actually like my visit here. It is not a big castle and not much to see inside. However, I liked it more than the Nagoya Castle. I do recommend getting the train and entrance combo ticket.

#getgoing2025 The hotel is well located with a great view of the castle. The outside is beautifully landscaped, and we got a warm greeting. The inside of the hotel is just as lovely, and it's not just the main area as with some hotels, but extends to corridors and rooms. The bathroom was not as big as some but equally not as small as others. There was also a small balcony. Staff are friendly and efficient, and there is a nice bar. Highly recommended!

#getgoing2025 A 10 min walk from Inuyama Castle, this quaint Japanese garden with tea house is nice, quiet and peaceful. Although went in winter, the garden is very well kept and green. It isn't big, if you stroll slowly, you can probably finish walking in it in 30~40 min. There were only a few visitors (probably due to it being a cold day). You can purchase a tea coupon with the entrance ticket (you get a discount if you visited Inuyama castle). It includes a special Japanese dessert (wakashi) and traditional powdered green tea.

The temple, nestled on Mount Tsugao, is renowned for its thousand-armed Kannon Bosatsu, symbolizing boundless compassion. The ascent to the main hall involves a series of steps, but a small cable car is available for those who prefer it. Upon reaching the top, I was rewarded with panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes, including glimpses of Inuyama Castle. The tranquility of the temple, especially during the autumn months when the foliage transforms into vibrant hues, left a lasting impression. It's a serene retreat that beautifully marries natural beauty with spiritual solace.

#getgoing2025 Great stay! Modern hotel. The lobby and design were beautiful. The breakfast was great with a good selection of options and definitely worth it since the kids are free as a member. Our family was so impressed. The rooms were very big for Japan standards. The location is a 7 since it's a bit of a walk to the nearest train station (13 min-25 min depending on the station), but I would stay here again and I would recommend it because it's good value. About a 5 min walk away are a lot of restaurants, but immediately around you is just a 7-11 and of course vending machines. Our room had 2 double beds (also rare in Japan). The beds were really comfortable. The value of the price was great. The bathroom/shower/bath tub were excellent and the room very well planned. Check in and check out were fast too. We were really happy with our stay.

#getgoing2025 It is one of the most important Shinto shrines in Japan as it’s where the Kusanagi no Tsurugi is supposedly enshrined—the sword is one of the three Japanese Imperial Regalia. Like most such key shrines, it’s surrounded by a leafy park and oasis and so you’ll feel like you’re in another world the moment you walk through the Torii gate. I certainly did and loved the experience. The wooden shrines buildings are fantastically picturesque too, while the mini sword museum, located in a modern annexe, gives you the change to “test” the weight of ancient Japanese swords. As for transportation, it’s a 5 -7 minutes walk from Exit 2 of Atsuta Jingu Nishi subway station. The route is very straight forward and you’ll know where to turn when you see the Torii gate. PS: Many displays and signs here do not have English text. I strongly recommend you read up online before visiting, especially the legend of Kusanagi.
